Help With Platinum Pen Identification

Hello, everyone!

I'm looking for the information on this Platinum (supposedly) pen, which I bought on eBay - it was advertised as "Urushi" and "Maki-e", and has a nib of 3776.

But the cap is not screw-on (and on my other Platinum 3776 pens caps screwed on the barrel).

I saw a similar pen (https://andersonpens.com/platinum-3776-urushi-maki-e-sakura/), but this similar pen also has a screw-on cap.

I'm wondering if this pen is fake, and if it's not - I would be happy to know more about this pen.

One tiny data point: I have an older 3776 Century with what is called a "Gathered" or ribbed body, which has a snap cap. I think I bought it new in the late 80's or early 90's. So there are such things. Mine is neither urushi nor maki-e but it was a standard production model.

Older 3776 are snap on caps. Not super sure, but the twist caps (slip n seal) seems to have come out around 2011? https://www.platinum-pen.co.jp/press_230628.html (it may have been twist before, just without the extra seal)

Screw on caps were in use on the Platinum ReCelluloid and a number of lesser expensive screen printed makie prior to 2000. Exact date I do not know.

 

You pen is fairly recent. Can tell by the nib. Early slip on cap models had the JIS logo on the nibs.

 

Likely, the pen is a kaga-makie. It's a nice pen. Probably mid-range. BTW, some models have signatures. Keep an eye out for them. Judging by recent auction results on Yahoo Japan Platinum makie pens are creeping up in price fast. Especially older models.

Thank you for your input, Paul and Seiryuu. I was really confused about the cap, so I'm happy to know that this pen is likely to be genuine (as there are other models with snap-on caps out there).

I'm wondering if there are any ways to narrow down years of production of this pen.
