Another weakness on my part I saw a Jotter and had to buy it. A '70's window Jotter with advertising.

Schlitz

The message on the refill;

" When You're Out Of

Schlitz

You're Out of

Beer. "

On the barrel under the Schlitz logo has [ Model # 6-245-30 ]

A nice salesman sample Jotter for the collection.

That sounds like fun! Any chance of a photo?

Hah! I remember the ads on TV for Schlitz from when I was a kid.

Wonder if Parker ever made those for Rheingold ("With the 10 minute head" -- as if that was a FEATURE...).

Rheingold was good beer, and so was Schlitz.

Baptiste knew how to make a short job long

For love of it. And yet not waste time either.

I just won a sea-foam green Parker 41 - my first 41, though it basically looks like a 21, I think, with different colors. It looks a bit beat up. But for $39 shipped, I am willing to take the chance. No doubt I will want to have it serviced, and it will still come out a little lower than what 41s are going for on ebay.

I really want the pink/coral one, though. I have a bid in on a beat-up-looking one, but it won't end for a few days yet. So we shall see. I don't want to get sucked into a bidding war at the last minute.

I also just lost a bid on a blue 51 Special from the same source as the green 41. Winning bidder beat me by $1 in the last 5 min. I want to get a Special/Demi/Aero/Vac in green or blue.

Except for one lovely cocoa Aero 51, all my others are black or burgundy. I guess those are the most common colors?

I’m watching that Coral 41, but will let you have it LOL. Have several blue vacs and blue Aeros if you want to PM me.

The one that also comes with the cocoa Aero? I have to remember I am not the only one around here who watches these things. LOL

We'll talk about the blue 51s at some point. B)

Pix on the 41 when you get it! I think mine is Aqua but not 100% sure.

Do be aware to look really closely at the barrel and hood -- they're the same grade of plastic as 21s, which can be prone to cracking. Mine is okay, but I do kinda baby it and don't put it in rotation too often. I'd love to get a grey one to go with it -- haven't made up my mind about the pink. Of course I'm not looking all that closely for one -- I'll never EVER find as good a deal ever again (50¢ at an estate sale, digging through a shoebox full of mostly BPs; I'm sure the estate sale people thought they were doing themselves and their clients a whole lot of good, since I could have bought the entire box's contents for five bucks.... If they saw the episode of Pittsburgh Hidden Treasures (like Antiques Road Show only local) and saw my "man on the street" interview with a KDKA reporter (showing that pen and the 1926 Lucky Curve Duofold ringtop I'd paid $12 for a couple of months before) -- and then seeing the appraisal value for those two pens alone in the crawl at the bottom of the screen, they'd be kicking themselves six ways to Sunday.

This past weekend though? Nada. A modern Parker Big Red ballpoint with some sort of company imprint on it.... I did get a couple of small bottles of Sanford Pen-It (brown and green) that were both at least 2/3 full and the ink seems to be in okay shape -- unlike the bottle of Pen-It Blue-Black that was probably an IG ink, and more or less unusable.... Comme ci, comme ça.

Last night I hovered over the bid button as the time counted down to get this NOS Falcon!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373151284146

Please dont tell me if I overpaid! This is my last pen purchase until I have work again. ( Ive had no regular work since March, so my belt tightening is kicking in in earnest, but I sold a couple of pens lately so it kinda balanced out...)

Anywho. Ive been looking for a Falcon, and seeing one with box and inserts in fhat condition was too tempting.

No one finds bargains like you do, Ruth. :P

Come to Parkerland and buy in bulk. You will find the bargains.

You are on the list for the next auction. [ Whenever that will be ] I still have hope that there will be an auction for Parkers this season.

I did get out to a farm auction on Sunday, but only saw one 3rd gen Jotter without a clip. I left before the auction started. I have about 20 or so without clips as it is.

I dunno. I also find the ~$300 Watermans with the nib bent at about a 90° angle.

Jotteraddict62 has access to all the estate sales and auctions of former Parker/Janesville employees.... Someday I wanna go shopping with HIM!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
