Just saw this. It is virtually the same design as the stipula ventidue with a different filling mechanism. I had a ventidue and ended up selling it because I didn't like it, so maybe this will be a good replacement (I really like the design)

Mine arrived today. I'm impressed. A nicely finished pen with a remarkably simple filling system. The first thing I did was to replace the Jinhao nib with the last of my Knox obliques, so it writes beautifully. I don't care for metal sections much, but for the price, it seems to be a rather good pen.

Edit - I also owned (and sold) a Ventidue. I think this is a much nicer pen.

Strangely, mine came with a Jinhao installed and a Moonman as spare.... Weird. But the Knox is massively superior anyway.

Did you order from a seller that offers medium nib as an option? Moonman nib only comes in fine, so some sellers swap in Jinhao nibs and offer them as medium. Edited by Cyclohexene

I don't prefer pens that used glossy metal as their grip section.

Should have kept the finish as matte in my opinion.

So - is it a nicer pen than the Stipula Ventidue? How about the Vedo? (I especially love my Vedo.)

Using right now:

Visconti Voyager 30 "M" nib running Birmingham Streetcar

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Pelikan M1000 "F" nib running Birmingham Sugar Kelp

Sailor King of Pens "M" nib running Van Dieman's Heemskerch and Zeehaen

I saw a very good review from Inky Rocks on this pen, convinced me I wasn't interested in the pen but if they come out with a better design with that filling system, I'll be very interested.

I should have mine next week.

Looks nice, I may get one, knowing I will need to swap the nib out...(good to know Knox fits)

I still dearly love my 22s and the 14k nibs though.

The metal section does not bother me a bit.

I'm very fond of my Vedo too. Lovely little pen, and no metal section (#5 steel nib, but very nice and somewhat springy).

btw, not strange, I bet you asked for an M nib. Moonman only offers fine. If you ask for M (or fude) they swap in a Jinhao M or fude, and leave the Moonman F in the pack.

PS just saw Cyclohexene had already answered you...

I've had mine for 2 days. It has very wet flow, and it just burped, which is no fun (. I'll keep watching its behaviour, because otherwise I like it.

I don't think it a problem when someone copies a design I have never ever seen (I do have a problem with Moonman copying Leonardo's pens, because those pens are all over the internet, so in this case it's in fact an attempt to entice those who wanted _that_ look, but don't want to spend the cash). I bought it not for its resemblance to anything, but for two characteristics, (1) a transparent part of the barrel, i.e. seeing at a glance how much ink I have left, and (2) the filling system, which is, AFAIK, not from Stipula. So #1 is a generic characteristic that Stipula doesn't hold copyright to, and #2 is _not_ copied from Stipula.

The burping problem makes me ask a question right away about whether someone was able to swap not just the nib, but also the feed in this pen.

Burping in this fashion means some air feedback unchecked , usually , and those air can only goes in from 2 places AFAIK, well more precisely likely to be only 2 , cause anywhere else you will see ink elsewhere like the seems between section and barrel but not.

It's either from the top piston side , though I doubt it since clearly you can ink it up straight so air tightness seems intact there or it can come in from the nib side.

Might be screw off the nib housing, check and made sure feed and nib tight in and apply good amount of silicone grease to the outer wall of the housing when putting it back on.

Some burping in these large capacity pens almost inevitable but should not be the way you describe it

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
