Yes I think your proportion of black in that mixture is very large! I usually start by adding very small proportions of black to blue. Drops, if I'm working in a small vial, or milliliters, if I feel courageous (or foolish) and go straight to the bottle (in that case, it's usually one I've already given up on). My food color dropper bottle is ideal for this kind of mixing.

Looks like a lovely grey! It's got an 3H pencil tone but the permanence of ink. Quite special!

It's actually interesting. I don't like black ink much and don't use it, while your mix is a cold leaning grey that is not so saturated as to cover up any shading and still quite readable. Not a bad "intermediate".

If you cooked up enough, you can take some and add further blue to see which is your preferred target blue-black.

You might find that your grey intermediate is better that the blue black you can get (that sometimes happens when the starting materials are chosen with the scope of using up stock - the result is not guaranteed - I know that when I start my 4001 Royal blue stock mixes...)
