Penbbs 500 With Platinum 3776 Nib

I have jumped on the PenBBS 500 train and I´m enjoying it very much.
My pens are normally more plain and simple (business professional) in the design, but this time I wanted to try something new and ordered the smoke version. I have not regretted that decision, I really like the 3D effect.
I can highly recommend the 500 model, it has a fun filling system and the build quality is really high.

I have seen other people do nib hacks on their PenBBS pens, so I thought I would give it a go too. I have large hands and can´t really use my Platinum 3776 Chartres Blue with a SF nib, which I often regret because I really like that nib.
I fitted the nib and its feed to the PenBBS 500 pen and it fits perfect. At first I experienced ink starvation, but then I shortened the rod/stem that goes into the barrell (sorry, don´t know the name of that part). That was easily done with some fine sandpaper, I just sanded down the grooves in the PenBBS rod.
I now have a pen that works flawlessly and I´m really having fun with it. I love the SF nib in a regular sizes pen.
I´m tempted to do a similar hack on another PenBBS pen.

Ink is Parker Quink Blue Black. I rediscovered the ink a year ago and really enjoy it today, I like that it works good in most pens and in a wet pen the color is a pleasing blue.

Great job on the nib swap. I swapped in Goulet nibs in my 309 and 456 without a problem as well.

That looks very lovely.

I can't say I blame you. It reminds me of how I wish Platinum had a Piston Filler.

Woah, this is really cool. Did the way it felt to write change in any way compared to the original one? and how is it right now. I am thinking of doing this too on a penbbs 456. Really cool idea.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
