De Atramentis Steel Blue

kcwpZaTl.jpg

I first started using this ink when De J sent me a Diplomat Aero Fountain Pen in Blue as a thank you for the great ink comparison of all De Atramentis inks I made. Somehow I find this Steel Blue ink quite well fitting to the Blue of the Fountain Pen

Before I start I hereby mention that that I will compare this ink with Diamine Majestic blue soon. The reason for this is somewhat peculiar, both inks smear strongly when a drop of water is spilled on it, even after a long period of drying. But no worries both inks are very beautiful. So I will not only post a comparison of both inks, I will also write a review of that lovely Diamine Majestic Blue ink

De Atramentis Steel Blue Ink

As with most De Atramentis ink it is a smooth writer. The ink flows nicely and does not feather (I said most because sometimes there are badges of some De Atramentis inks that do)

Again as with most De Atramentis Inks it dries very quickly…With less than 2 seconds the Steel Blue is an ultra-fast drying ink which should be perfect for left-hand writers

Conclusion

I much like this ink. It is a blue that makes me want to use Blue inks more. I always thought that blue inks were boring and more biro writers but this medium dark blue made me enthusiastic with it’s shading sheening and nice saturation Together with the Blue Diplomat Aero Fountain Pen it makes a perfect marriage

Thanks for the review. The ink seems to be ok but the color is just meh to me, a bit too green.

So did you use the Aero in the picture or the Excellence in the end?

I love the color, but I've always found the ink finicky. It would dry and gel up in the nib and as you point out : smears.

The silly thing is this drinks dries very fast like most De Atramentis inks but it smears like few Se Atramentis inks

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.
