Oh I love the look of the zwischenlicht! If you have time I'd love to see a picture of it in action!

Lovely haul, as usual. All that's missing is Diji!

Garbo & Homer--these are not pens I normally see referenced in the same conversation. But what a beautiful friendship they seem to have struck up! Despite the obvious disparity in size, and in cultural references, there is something about their shapes and design that strikes me as surprisingly kindred....a kind of swelling linearity, perhaps, as curious as that might sound. Despite the contrast of outward pen and nib size, they both feel at home in my hand and deliver--at least with a BB nib in the Garbo, and an 03B in the Homer--a powerful yet elegant line. (Elegant not with respect to my hurried hand, but the feel of the nib on the page--like the keel of a ship cutting with quiet power across a tranquil sea).

And lol, I never thought I would end up with two Homer fountain pens, but it is one of my favorite designs, and when I came across a Homer with an 03B, how could I say no? My first 03B, but probably not my last. I also have an 03B in my Pelikan m1000, but they are completely different nibs; although each is compelling in its own way, the Pelikan 03B is much less practical and consistent. The Homer 03B is, by contrast, both fun to write with and surprisingly practical.

As luck would have it, and around the same time, a Greta Garbo fountain pen also finally came my way. The nib width hadn't been specified by the seller, so I was particularly delighted to discover a BB nib instead of the omnipresent M or F!! Now if only I can find a Marlene Dietrich with a BB or OBB... !!

Wow, what a beautiful pair! These two are like sun and moon, but really beautiful together. Obviously, even though one is considerably smaller than the other, the overall shape and the balance seem comparable, so it is very understandable why you happened to like both. And those broad stubby nibs seem like loaaads of fun. Enjoy in good health!

All great inks!

I received a couple of bottles of MB Glacier Blue a couple of weeks ago and am loving it!  I would love to have the matching LeGrand pen, but for now that isn't "in the cards".

Oh, @ak47 I can't agree about Verne, I think that is one of the very best Writers pens, I love it.  But an amazing collection of pens I agree, bravo @Cyrille81 - thanks for sharing. Are they all inked?

Yes I'm inking all my pens. Not always at the same time but I have none sealed or never inked 😀

Today I'm enjoying a 149P with a B nib "bespoked" to a CI by Mr Sorowka. :D

Add lightness and simplicate.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
