Hurray! I have participated in InCoWriMo successfully two years running. Last letter of the month a reply to a letter that arrived today.

I hope all who participated feel good at the end.

I wrote a few extra cards to my pen pals. They probably were pleasantly surprised cuz I've never done that before. Not a big commitment, so I could just do it when I had time.

Been an unusually busy month for me, and trying to get these last letters done was impossible. I did get postcards out to everyone ho has sent me a letter in the last half of the month, so I got 31 mailings done by deadline.

I got out 31 letters somehow, but my to-reply pile is probably in the double digits so March is going to be busy.

It was fun as always. :) So many beautiful examples of mail art!

I'll come up with something eventually.

I got 29 out. Today I got 5 letters! Two are from my brother, happily.

First year I've attempted it. I wrote 18 letters. While that is short of the goal, that's far more letters than I've written in a month before now.

Next time I'll have a better handle on what it takes to get a letter out every day.

And now onto March, the month of replys.

  • 2 weeks later...

March on, and in April, there's #write_on!

I failed to write on some days in February due to illness. But, I did write more than 30 letters in February. Got quite the pile of letters to reply to.

18 letters is a great effort. Writing letters should be enjoyable and not feel like a chore.

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month.

It seems like InCoWriMo overshadows that by a long shot. I tried to write a letter a day in April of last year, but didn’t get beyond two weeks. I think February is an easier month not simply because it is shorter, but dark evenings seem to promote letter writing more. Just a theory of mine.

I'm writing a letter a day now and have expanded my list. Family never writes back (they call or text), but they're all getting letters from me now anyway. Edited by TSherbs

Wow, I didn't know about Card and Letter Writing Month! Sounds great!

I sure hope that the world will go back to normal before April is up, because postal service isn’t working in some countries.... I will be writing to random nursing homes within the U.S. that I found on SNS, but it’s not the same as writing to my pen pals...

  • 10 months later...

So February is only a week away! I think it is an appropriate time to revive this thread, and see if anyone will be doing InCoWriMo.

As always, I will just do it on my own... I have not officially signed up anywhere, but am looking forward to sending out 28 pieces of mail, yay!

Thank you for reviving this. I’m planning on participating.  I’ve managed to participate fully two years in a row, so might as well keep it going.

I’m woefully behind answering letters I received in 2020.

I'm interested in InCoWriMo, but too nervous to publish my address on the official website! Might go for it if someone wants to PM addresses, though.

I am currently on hiatus (too inconsistent)
but I admire those who do!

I'm doing InCoWriMo for the first time this year! I'm so excited. I even designed an InCo '21 bookmark to commemorate my participation this year, and I'll be sending it out to all of my letter recipients next month!

It's looking like I'll have a few extra, so if anyone is interested in a Valentine's snail mail themed bookmark, designed and made entirely by Yours Truly, please reach out to me via DM. We don't have to exchange letters (or we can!) - you can just reach out if you want a bookmark and I'll send you one haha. There's 4 different colorways - I'll be including a randomly drawn bookmark in every envelope I mail out! I hope everyone likes them. Woohoo~!

Here's a picture of what they look like all finished up:

Wow, they are really impressive, and jolly. The ones from another incowrimoer (I hope she's OK), were elegant.

Thank you so much! :) I've heard about her from a few other comments on the InCo address sharing thread... This is my first year, so I was never lucky enough to receive a bookmark from her. I hope she's well!

I like your bookmarks too. If we keep this thread going, maybe people will step up to write. There is a snail Mail thread. But InCoWriMo suggests getting letters out sooner.

Here is a link to that thread which is active.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
