Awaiting Waterman Carène Essential Silver

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Just ordered my first Waterman pen today. A Waterman Carène Essential Silver, I had my eye on one for a while now... and I saw it had been discontinued meanwhile/recently. So I quickly went to find one somewhere.

I ordered one with a fine nib because I read the medium is quite broad.

I ordered a bottle of Serenity Blue with it.

Looking forward to writing with it.

Congratulations, I looked at it online but decided it was too much bling for me; not a criticism! Pictures would be appreciated, if you haven't already a Carène, the suggestion of returning a few drops to the bottle is a very good one, zero problems with my black and rhodium and gunmetal cap ones.

Congratulations. Enjoy your Carene. I’ve been accumulating them for a while now. My weakness has been for the Deluxe version. Just picked up one in Green with Gold Cap. They are All wonderful writers.

Really looking forward to writing with it, indeed it's a bit much bling maybe but I'm sure it will fit some occasions .

My daily writer is a Montblanc 146 (Black with platinum trimming)

Also now and then bring the Lamy 2000 which is totally different.

And now the Carène as a 'metal' pen which I don't have yet. All my other pens are resin, and I've been put off by full metal pens because of the weight. But I read the Carène in silver feels light and nimble. Looking forward! The only metal body pen I have is the Montblanc Heritage Rouge et Noir which is brass and lacquered.

It’s not too bling in my eyes, it’s gorgeous! The wave pattern fits the streamlined design beautifully. Enjoy your pen!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

If you don't cap the pen I doubt the barrel section is noticeably much heavier than a lacquered model.

If you do find it heavy, you could source a Black Sea CT barrel and fit it plus it should still go well with the silver wave cap.

Received the pen,

Amazing pen and my rear end was funnily enough aligned properly unlike many others I see posting here.

The pen is incredibly smooth and quite fine for a European fine. Montblanc are a bit thicker when with a fine nib.

Use it daily for my week/day planner.

The medium Carene that I have writes like a stub Nib. Meaning it writes wider on vertical lines than horizontal lines.

How about a Fine Nib?
