Colorvers Einstein Ring

I'm officially addicted to the Colorverse line of inks. I know they are a little pricey but you get all the extra "junk" in the box and some of the colors are really cool in my opinion. Einstein Ring is no different. Its kinda like Noodlers Black Swan In Australian Roses and its also really similar to Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Budo. In fact I thought it was a dead ringer for Yama Budo until I compared them on Rhodia paper. You can see that in the scan below. On the HP paper they looked the same but Einstein Ring was much darker on Rhodia. Overall the ink is fairly well behaved and had good flow. The dry time is my only gripe. In a really wet pen it was well beyond 15 secs. I'm not really even sure what to call this color. Its somewhere between a pink and a burgundy with a little bit of a dark purple sort of hue to it. One last thing I found interesting is that I scrubbed the color for the water test and it would barely smudge or come off the paper see below. I would characterize it as pretty waterproof, but it didn't stain my demonstrator pen I used it in.

I've also included a JPEG that I copied direct from the Colorverse Website giving the characteristics of the ink. I really don't remember college physics enough to know anything about surface tension and the RGB thing is interesting if you look it up on your computer. I mainly put the picture on here because it gives a great image of the bottles and a fairly honest representation of the color itself. Hopefully its helpful.

I would love to hear what everyone thinks.... good or bad. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the review.....

It's truly a striking colour...

I tried several Colorverse samples, namely Quasar and Andromeda, but was not impressed.....

And if I find a cheaper substitute, I'll stick with that :D

Looks like a gorgeous colour, thank you for the review. Not sure with what you mean with "all the extra junk" (free pen? stickers? lollipop?) in the box though. I have a bottle of BSAR that should arrive in the mail some time next month, I'm curious to see how it will compare, I've read BSAR had gone under many changes in hues.

The last batch of BSAR I got in to sell looked really close to this color. It has gone through several iterations, but the most recent is pretty close in color to Einstein Ring. It is certainly cheaper considering you get 100ml vs only 80ml from Colorverse. Oh, and what I meant about all the extra junk was the napkin, the hard paper pen holder, and of course the stickers.

I too love Colorverse inks! They flow beautifully. This one has impressive water resistance; I may just have to add it to my list! :D

Hooray!!!! was hoping you'd say that (about the colour of BSAR), and given I don't care much for stickers, paper holders or napkins, I'm very happy with my order.

It's not one you had in your comparisons, but have you happened to try Diamine's Tyrian Purple and know how that compares?

I had a color swab of Diamine Tyrian Purple. Now that you mention it I looked and its pretty close. I would say that the Diamine doesn't look quite as saturated as the colorverse... but they are close.

Thanks for getting back! I'd like to try Colorverse inks (mainly Hayabusa) but I find their price too steep. But this shade could be something I'd enjoy between all my purples and blurples, so I'll keep/add Diamine's Tyrian Purple on the list.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
