If you are a sucker for Moonman pens, well boys and girls you better get your wallet ready and packed this month since they are releasing two new models based on the picture linked below (from the reddit post here):

I really like both of the model. The T1 looks so similar to the Fine Writing International pens.

Thank you for this information. The M8 appeals to me - I'll have to wait for the details when it is launched. I wonder how much they'll be.

This outfit has certainly been busy and they've produced some interesting pens.

yeah they had announce it a bot more than a week , I had the notice from them. Looks interesting but really not my cup of tea. The T1 is more of a blown up, grown up piston filler of the Kaweco Sport

Its a Piston filler

Yes. I just thought overall design wise it is similar to the Fine Writing International.

And it is now available on feebay, happy spending!

Ordered one of both (woops).

Ditto, although the supplier (freefolkdream on ebay) of the M8 just messaged me to say they received a whole batch of damaged pens and they didn't know when a replacement batch would be available, so my order was being cancelled. :-(

I'll try another, but people should be on the lookout for damaged pens filtering through.

One taobao reviewer noted that the barrel thread insert came unglued. Any other info on the nature of the problem?

I haven't received mine yet but it is reported to be on the way.

That's a very bad joke , the coupler do not even had thread to mate to the barrel , this is pure engineering failure , I am glad this come out so early from retail, save many who might otherwise be caught , and thank you this is good reminder that I would had to stay way from this M8 thing

From all I can tell, the M8 is the M6 in new materials. Have you heard of this problem with that pen? I haven't.

Well the material and the finishing might had something to do with it after all what works on the M6 does not translate to automatically working on the M8 ; still a pretty bad engineered parts. Never like these glued push fit style construction ; just too many in build faults

Don't want to highjack this thread, but careful with the Stipula Tocco Ferro. Mine fell on the floor and it just exploded into small parts. I do have to say that I then sent it to Stipula and they replaced it with another one, though it took about 6 months for the new pen to arrive.

I have a few Stipula Ventidues and a Vedo - they are more rugged.

Back to the Moonman M8....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
