Trouble With Moonman Nibs

I have problems with the nibs on the Moonman N2 and Moonman S1 directly out of the box .

I having problems with the nibs alignment , ink flow , nibs and feeds not staying secure inside the nib assembly , with ink infiltrating around the nib assembly inside the section .

I unscrew the nib assembly , clean the inside of the section fixed the nibs alignment and smoothed the nibs and then i tried to screw back the nibs assembly but when to tighten a little the nib assembly in to the section i noticed that the lips that hold the rubber gaskets was broken in fact the both nib assembly looks to be very brittle .

Has anyone else had any such issues with Moonman N2 and Moonman S1 fountain pens ?

Changing the nib assembly with new ones will fix the problem or the replacements will suffer the same issues ?

Those Moonman fountain pens are my first Moonman fountain pens .

Had the S1, no N2 here, my 3 sample work fine as they are , as usual, my first run of the pen is to check if anything particular, all 3 come to me NIB fitted tight, nib OK , so next I clean them thoroughly as usual, soapy wash, then rinse, let dry overnight and then a fill to try them out .. well all 3 write fine .. I did not try to disassemble them as I do not see a need to .. had a couple of spare nib unit, and I had them out, visually I do not see any problem ..

 

BUT ... having plenty of Moonman pens there is times where the ink do seep around between the section and the nib assembly , my take on that usually is simply unscrew the nib unit , applied some silicone grease making sure it stay on both the screw thread and the nib end mating collar ( and also a thin coat on the housing body ) and simply screw it back in making sure its tight and snug .. that actually the same for Bock, Jowo, Schmidht and any pen that use similar screw in nob units .. and this pretty much always take care of the issue ... oh also one thing .. if ink is doing what's stated one of the problem might be the converter, not the pen, the sealing on the converter ( piston seal, back end around piston turning knob assembly , and the mating collar ) might have minute gaps or something along that that allow air to keep seeping through .. it might not be looking so .. often time I've found that disassembling and re assemble them with silicone grease applied to made sure everything fit ( not the mating collar itself ) can work wonder

Would I clean it before usage ?

cleaning it before usage is always good and its good time to check everything work as it should be ; just do remember first impression is almost always not the right one for Chinese fountain pen, as usual they simply need a fill or two of writing before the nib break in

I've simply said to my friend to clean the pen before first usage.
