I‘m sure it will be pretty. The ones shown on the Stilo&Stile instagram all look great.

Hope it will arrive soon. What nib are you getting?

Not sure if I like the JOWO stub; it will need some work to fit my writing.

Cheers

Mine was ordered with the rhodium-plated gold 1.1 stub.  If I understood Emy's youtube review of the Momento Magico, the steel nibs are JoWo, but the gold nibs are back to Bock.

I have two Leonardos that came with steel JoWo stubs. Neither was usable without tuning. Rather than bother, I swapped in gold JoWo nibs ground to CI by Pablo Carrasco. Those are always a pleasure to use.

I have dozens of JoWo steel nibs. A few are not wonderful, but most others are really nice writers. It depends very much on who (if anyone)  tuned or custom-ground them.

I really need to let Salvatore know.

My Leonardo Momento Magico Tropical (no. 067/180) arrived earlier in the day than expected. It has the rhodium plated 14 Kt nib - a 1.1 stub. I inked it with Robert Oster Bondi Blue. It writes nicely, although it would write crisper with a drier ink. Next fill. Here are some photos:

I think it's quite attractive.

You are correct. It is gold underneath the Rhodium plating. 😊

aha! so for a change!

Here is my Pietra Salata.

It's a rather odd colour, blue-brown-purple...

I decided the brown tint would go well with gold trim, although I've been on the verge of buying the silver trim, which seems to go well with the blue!

Both lovely! (for the record, the nib is a 1.1 steel stub and very nice out of the box)

I've seen enough photos of the Stilo&Stile MM model to be fairly certain: the cap does not completely cover the ink window. Can anyone who owns any of the other (stock) Momento Magico models confirm whether or not the cap covers the ink window, or is there always a sliver of that window showing when capped. It is really hard to know for certain from photographs, and it wasn't until this LE pen came up that I even noticed it. Thanks!

ETA: as I was typing my post, Sansenri showed their Pietra Salata, which also seems to show the ink window peeking through...

yes, that is correct.

It's a wanted feature, allows you to see ink even when the pen is capped.

This was a feature present in Delta Dolce Vita pens.

Thanks, I appreciate the information. As to "wanted" feature, I certainly understand. However, it is not to my liking, and I prefer the manner with which the Aurora pens cover the ink window. Simply a matter of different tastes or style interests, and this helps me make a decision.

I do understand, you are not the first to mention this is not to your liking, by "wanted" I meant to say intended, i.e. wanted by Leonardo in the design. Delta was doing this with the Dolce Vita, so I assume Leonardo finds it an interesting feature to offer...

Exactly, I assumed that the window detail was very much intentional, since they are very careful with the crafting of the pens. I just couldn't be certain if it was something odd in the photos or as you describe.  I also didn't know that about the Delta pens (not owning any) but it certainly makes sense with their pen/family history. Still very nice pens, perhaps at one point I'll try one out. I'm certainly happy with the other LOI pens of mine!

Jon, if it's any reassurance, the thin portion of the ink window still uncovered  when the pen is capped is hardly noticeable when filled with an ink that matches the pen color. In the photo below, the MM Pietra Salata is filled with Leonardo Blue. The Tropical is filled with Oster Bondi Blue. I think, if it were filled with a green ink, the window would be less obvious.

I don't think the dimensions of the Momento Magico pens have been mentioned here, so I throw that in, at no additional charge: The length is between that of the standard Momento Zero and the MZ Grande. The other difference is that the MM is thinner by a bit. You may have also noticed the section is shaped differently. All said and done, this is a really nice variation, IMO, and very comfortable to write with.

Speaking for myself, I like being able to view a portion of the ink window in the Magico (and in the Sailor Realo), as I can see the ink level quite easily without uncapping the pen to see the ink in the window. A small but useful advantage  having a visible window.

Thanks, David. I more or less assumed that it might become less apparent with inking, though a use of a contrasting color might go on the opposite direction. To each their own, I don't dislike the pen but had other aesthetics in mind. The measurements are interesting. My one fairly unique LOI is the pen they made for Sarj Minhas and it has quite different dimensions, as well. I should do a side-by-side soon.

Sure, I can get that, and I have a Realo so the comparison is apt. Frankly, I use my pens enough that I don't have to look at the pen before using it to know that at least it is inked. I also find it just a bit odd that, in addition to the sliver of the window that shows, they have chosen to have that little tiny step-down/thinning of the cap right at the lip. I haven't figured that out, either! Italian idiosyncrasies, just one of the reasons they keep our interest!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
