Ancora Will Be Restarting The Omas Brand, Including Production Of The Paragon And 360.

I just purchased a modern Ancora pen and was doing a bit of research on the brand. I had known for a while that Ancora had purchased the OMAS brand (with the rodstock going to ASC and the equipment to SCRIBO) but this is the first I heard of actual plans to restart the OMAS name and models. To see the Paragon and 360 again would be incredible. They obviously don't have the OMAS celluloid to work with but Ancora has some incredible materials of their own so I am excited to see what they come up with. Plus all Ancora materials, including nibs, are machined in-house which brings that special OMAS flair in my opinion. Cool stuff.

As far as I know they've bought the name. The article sounds like they've bought the rights to a number of the old models, however, OMAS celluloid and cotton resins aside (and BTW ASC only acquired some of the rod stock and not even all the ARCO) they will not have the nibs, which arguably were the heart of the brand, unless they do a deal with ScriBo to manufacture and supply them.

I am happy about the spare parts bit right at the end. That is one thing i have been a bit skittish about when it comes to using my Omas pens.

I think towards the end Bock was supplying the nibs.

If you like Giovanni Santini's nibs (I do) then you may be able to get them on pens marked Omas as well as Ancora and Santini Italia. Better than some revivals, if it happens.

Yes, this caught my eye too!

It would be a great and much appreciated service to the Community. And, if it can provide them with an added revenue stream, it's good for everyone.

Thanks for the link to the Santini web site. I am impressed with their sense of mission and heritage. The pens look well-designed, and I appreciate that they make their nibs in-house. I don't especially like their less traditional materials, but I decided there was enough promise to warrant a buy. I ordered a Brown Libra with a stub nib. Very reasonable price for a piston filler with a 18Kt gold stub nib, IMO.

I am hoping one or more of the vendors at the San Francisco Pen Show will have some of their other pen models.

Let us know what you think of the Santini when you receive it, David.

I was looking at one of the Libra too, before this thread started.

I have several Santinis and Ancoras. I LOVE these nibs. There's nothing like them with the extra long tines.

Last I heard Ancora was purchased by a Russian company and no longer producing pens, or the ones they were producing were impossible to obtain in the west. I'm very curious to follow this new Ancora/OMAS arrangement.

I have posted a "first look" review of my Santini Italia Libra here: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/348301-santini-italia-libra/?do=findComment&comment=4234393

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
