Wing Sung 699 - Victo Green Stationery Vacuum Filler Coming

Tas, I've read that the Kaigelu 316 spare nib fits. What's not to love about a nib with a kangaroo imprint?

This is a #5.5. Only place I've seen these readily available is Fountain Pen Revolution. Fortunately I have a Kaigelu from replaceing the 316 housing and nib with Bock.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Thanks lovely people.

(I've pulled the existing nib away from its feed a teensy smidge and now the nib has some spring and just enough variation to add interest . . . it's still a medium in my mind though )

(( Can't stop using it. Dread to think what I'd be like with a real 823!))

FPR 5.5 nibs are basically size 5 nibs. There was some reason why FPR calls theirs 5.5 which I don't remember now, but Kaigelu 316 nib is significantly bigger that FPR's 5.5

Its been quiet today. Ive carefully taken some micro mesh to the nib and now have a proper <F> to my delight.

Next stop . . . the real thing. 🤞🏼 lottery.

Spare Kaigelu 316 nibs are available without the pen body.

Oooh. Now I can play!

FPR used to sell a smaller nib (shorter, and not quite as wide, but with the same curvature around the feed), which they branded a #5 nib - so when they started selling the longer, wider nib, they called it a #5.5. It's a little misleading, at least potentially - really you could categorise either, or both, as #5 - but it was their way (at the time) of differentiating the two kinds of nib they had for sale.

There is a clear transparent version of the 699 now on Ebay.

I believe that Bobby has also announced that his AliExpress store has the transparent clear in stock.

Just a thought that I had...

It's a shame that they decided to make a knockoff of the Pilot 823, which itself is a knockoff of the Montblanc 14X design. I would much rather that they had made their 626 have a vacuum filling option, much like a modern revival of the Sheaffer Balance, but with the vacuum filling system (unlike the other reproductions, which are C/C or lever fill).

I jumped on that one from the taobao seller today. I'm curious about the M nib.

Did you also have the F nib? If so a comparaison of the two nibs would be wonderful. I want a 699 but I am afraid the F nib would be too fine for me. I saw some sellers fitting a replacement M nib but that is not an original.

I've been trying a few different nibs.

JoWo nibs fit

Jinhao nibs fit

Nemosine nibs do not.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

Which Jinhao nib fits the Wing Sung 699?

Is it the jowo #5 or #6 that fits.

Thanks

Before you throw out the Wing Sung 699 nib and replace it with a German #6: Give it a try! They're actually good. I recently did the opposite: Replaced a Bock nib on another pen with a better-performing Wing Sung one.

I agree. The new M nib is a great addition to this pen.

Have you or anyone else tried a Bock nib? Been interested in trying the titanium one for a while, and the 699 would be my preferred pen if it fits

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
