Where/who Are The Best Professional And Reputable Sources For Vintage Pens?

Where or who are the best professional and reputable sources (vendors/dealers/etc) for vintage pens?

Places where the prices are fair, the pens are restored professionally, and the nibs are tuned?

Places where the pens do not smell of cologne, cigarette smoke, and mold.

I've tried Ebay and it's "touch and go". Sometimes I get a great pen, most times I have to return it for refund.

Any suggestions?

Where have you bought from with great result and great return policy?

Right now, I've been looking for a vintage Pelikan 400NN (old one) fine point , smooth writer, and a vintage Parker Senior Duofold (fine point) smooth writer. Both in excellent to mint condition.

Thanks everyone for your help.

For vintage Pelikan pens take a look at:

www.thepenguinpen.com

www.penboard.de

Rick Propas and Tom Westerich are well known and reliable restorers.

I have dealt with all of the following except FPH and they sell very nicely restored pens. There are lots of others.

Gary Lehrer at Gopens.com.

Peyton Street Pens

eBay seller tbickii (also FPN member)

eBay seller fishingmullet

Fountain Pen Hospital

Ron Zorn at Main Street Pens

Dave Nishimura at vintagepens.com

Also consider PFN member PenFisher. He used to sell, regularly, reconditioned, repaired, and tuned Parker 51's for attractive prices. Haven't seen his sales lately, but FPN has changed up their pen-sales sections. I've probably miosed him.

Dr. David Isaacson's sales outlet.

For some unknown reason the automated system will not let me put its name up.

Looked up your list.

Rick is on vacation but emailed me that he'll work with me when he returns later this month.

Thanks for the help.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MidnightPens is gwimer1's site. Most of his vintage pens are less that $100.

There are some gems on reddit's pen_swap. People will post modern stuff and vintage stuff, too. You can also post a request to see if anyone is selling a certain pen. There are requirements though for reddit karma, so just read the rules beforehand. https://www.reddit.com/r/Pen_Swap/

I have bought from penamie.co.uk and have been very satisfied.

This is terrific!

I did check out all of the one's mentioned on this thread. This list is going to be a fun one to add.

Thanks,

You forgot Nathaniel cerf's thepenmarket, he sells restored vintage pens at usually pretty outrageous prices and documents any flaws meticulously.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

OP here.

I wanted to thank everyone for your tremendous help.

I now have a Parker Vacumatic, a Parker Senior Duofold Vacumatic, a Parker Duofold, a "51", and a Pelikan 400NN.

They write beautifully and look great, all in mint condition restored. Tuned nibs.

I got them over a period of time from these outstanding vendors: (also recommended to me from FPN members).

David Nishimura Vintage Pens (minimal shipping packaging)

Peyton Street Pens (awesome service and very pro. shipping packaging is perfect, Email responses were the most prompt.)

VCM Vintage Parker Pens

Thanks again everyone.
