Fountain Pen Club In Nyc

Recommended Posts

C-InPenmanship

There is a get-together of fountain pen enthusiasts in NYC this & every last Saturday of the month at 6PM at a store called "Goods for the Study" in SOHO at 234 Mulberry St. New York, NY. Their phone number is (212)219-2789. Sorry for the late notice this month but hopefully someone will be interested next month. Today will be the first time I'm going & I'm a little intimidated that everyone there will have collector's pieces & I don't. Wish me luck!

Why not come join us in the Big Apple Pen Club?

I've never heard of a pen club that meets on Mulberry Street, but I guarantee that the BAPC is a bunch of pen fans, and not collectors. We are accumulators, including a few who repair and re-sell pens, and Josh Lax, who is a nib specialist.

From Tim Ettenheim:

Friends,

July 4 was yesterday, so today is July's first Thursday, that means next Thursday, July 11, is Big Apple Pen Club meeting night!

As usual, we will meet from 7-9 at Bard Hall, just west of Columbus Circle. Bring your pens, bring your inks, bring your paper, bring your supper if you want... Directions to Bard Hall are below.

Hope to see you next Thursday evening!

Tim

Directions:

Bard Hall, the residential building for Bard Graduate Center, is located at 410 West 58th Street in Manhattan, just west of 9th Avenue/Columbus Avenue. The best way to get there from almost anywhere in NYC is via subway -- take the 1/A/C/B/D trains to 59th Street/Columbus Circle (note: 2/3 trains do not stop at 59th, even though it is a major intersection). Depending on which subway exit stair you use, put Central Park behind you and walk around the southern (left) side of the Time Warner complex, which is 58th Street. Walk west on 58th (against traffic); 9th Avenue/Columbus is the next intersection west. Bard Hall is diagonally across the intersection and three addresses downhill on 58th at 410, immediately past the small construction site. Please tell the guard you are there for the Pen Club -- you will be expected and directed to the proper room. Feel free to bring any food and drink with you.

Wondering how this event went (as we approach the last Saturday in July).

Not sure if this has been suggested already but would a setting for localized regions or chapters in FPN be helpful? I don't know if there is a way to find local FPN members who would be nearby. I don't know if we want to be discoverable but a setting to know how many members are in 25, 50, or a 100 miles of each other might be helpful. We can create a regions specific network like Craigslist where people could use that to connect with nearby members, conduct in person sales, arrange FPN meetups

Hi again all, I forgot to tell y'all that I made the post about Sweden ink PIF. Most have probably found it long ago, but here's a link, anyway:

I read your blog post and all the replies with much interest. I'm a FP user in Australia. Been part of this forum for years but rarely post. I did come across your ink sharing thread and considered participation. For me it's not lack of interest but lack of time to play around with FP and inks. I'd feel bad to put my hand up for the box and just have it sit until gosh knows when...   I also think that the FP community in Australia is smaller, and I wonder how many in the community are

Even so, you'd end up with a fragmented list, and it becomes an O(N²) process for each prospective requestor to check what is available: effectively recreate the list of currently active servers (without any reliable up-to-date info upfront about the inks and number of samples on offer in the thread) from the sequential list of posts, which may be spread over two or even more pages, and then query each server independently to check what is currently on offer.   It comes down to not hav
