Montblanc launched the new Writers Edition recently, honouring Rudyard Kipling (The Jungle Book, If, etc.).

We made a small video about both the editions of Montblanc on our Youtube channel:

I will be bying the ink and most likely the regular WE fountain pen. Maybe even the pen pouch.

Cufflinks are cool as well but I don‘t wear such. I‘m curious to see the color of both pen and ink for real!

Cheers

Michael

Even if I thought I won't buy it, when I see in real the limited edition I couldn't resist and I went back to home with it :) I haven't yet the ink because my reseller hasn't received it yet.

Some photos of the pens and a marvelous mother-in-pearl cap, so big!

Cyrille, thank you for the pictures. It helped me decide if to get this pen or not, and its safe to say I will be picking one up.

Its a striking pen, has all the right details with coral mop and champagne tone with green resin. Its a beautiful mix for someone who deeply loves colors in his pen.

What do you like and what do you not like of this pen?

I really like the mother-of-pearl top and the skeleton work on the cap specially on the monkeys. The thing I don't really like is the wolf head on the clip.

Great pictures Cyrille. I can't say I like the wolf head but that is an absolutely stunning pen.

The wolf head is a striking feature. A stand out MB WE, hard to mistake it for anything else. smile.png

It's striking!

The coral and the snowcap are always a beautiful combination.

Congratulations.

Beautiful pictures. I love the pen pouch. Does anyone know if it would fit a Pelikan m600 and accommodate two m600 pens ? Or would that size be too loose in the pen holder?

I don't know for the Pelikan M600 but I think it should be because the Kipling is pretty big pen so I think the Pelikan is smaller. I don't see the pouch in real but I think it is only made for one pen so the second pen, even if there is enough space for it won't have a compartiment to put it in. So I don't advise to do it. It could cause scratches on the pens.

The reseller I am familiar with already marked Kipling LE 1895 $600 lower than the Homer LE 1581.

I am not saying it means anything, but it could mean something ;)

For MB, a higher limitation number usually means a lower MSRP, all else equal. Edited by zaddick

Has anyone used the Kipling Ink yet?

I'm quite intrigued by it - it has a resemblance to British Racing Green, which is one of my all time favourites.

Not yet because my reseller where I bought the pen hadn't yet receive it. Currently I'm using Edelstein Olivine that accommodates pretty well with the green of the pen.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
