That is a quote from Taccia. If you don't like their marketing, you should take it up with them. Please do not berate the reviewer. Negative comments cause reviewers to quit reviewing.

@5Cavaliers, thank you for the great comparison.

Ditto in all regards.

Thank you, Amberlea. I would like to add my thanks to the reviewer. My experience with Taccia inks has been uniformly positive.

Thank you all for your kind comments!

I am really enjoying the Taccia inks. I have also been playing with Uguisi (Olive Green) and Daidai (Orange). I will put together a short review of those in a couple of days.

Nice ink and a good price

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I like the Taccia inks and the price is great especially for the quality - well at least here in the U.S. I don't know what Taccia inks cost elsewhere.

Love the whole Taccia line, but especially Ebi.

Thank you for the comment. I am finding that I really like this line of ink as well.

Thanks for the review. This looks like a nice color, but it would be interesting to see a side by side of this ink with Iroshizuku Yama-budo.

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

Thank you for your comment, Ruth. Yes, it is a nice color. As you can see from the comparisons, Yama-budo has more purple in it. Ebi reminds me of pomegranate juice.

Thanks for introducing a new brand. Interesting colors! And I agree inkstainedruth that a comparison would be interesting. Maybe also other colors from the line have a Iroshizuku or Sailor twin.

Thank you Jan2016! I can only compare with Yama-budo as I only have a few Sailor inks.

Got one coming my way, how does it compare with Yama Budo if you have it?

Great! It is a lovely ink. As you can see it is not quite a purple as Yama-budo. I really enjoy it. It isn't your typical dark red.

I've never seen (or eaten) any shrimp that looks this purple...

Nor have I. :D

Thanks for the good review. Taccia inks are made by Sailor. I've reviewed the black/Kuro positively but for me the standout is red/Aka, that it is an exceptional ink.

Actually, your great review is what made me order some samples. I haven't tried Aka yet. But I really like Uguisi (and I generally don't like olive greens). I hope to do a review of that soon.

Thank you very much for this review and particularly for the comparison with Iroshizuku Yama Budo. I've recently obtained a bottle of Yama Budo and have been seriously enjoying using that ink. But also interested in getting Taccia's Cha - Brown and Tsuchi - Golden Wheat. Might add a bottle of this ink to my Taccia list too :)

Until this evening I'd never heard of Taccia Inks.

Someone kindly sent me an image of a box of Taccia Ebi.

Finding your review with images was a pleasure, as I admire your aesthetic sensibility.

Preparing any review requires a special dedication to fairness, transparency, and the likely needs of readers.

Your lovely review of Taccia Ebi exceeds all of those requirements. I'd hope to someday do as well.

Happy Writing!

Thank you for your very kind words. But all of the credit goes to the lovely ink.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
