Sterling Silver Eye Dropper Pen From Raja - Any Idea?

Hi today I got a new pen. I found it unique. Don't know about its previous user. Got it from a local dealer for reasonable price. It is a sterling silver pen with 14k gold nib.

It shows a "made in" ENGLAND in cap and 925 embossed in the Body.

The clip shows the brand name Raja.

Are these pens known?

I'm not very knowledgeable about vintage stuff, but I'm betting someone will be along soon that knows something about the brand.

Very ornate and beautiful pen, though. Have you inked it up yet?

Hi - are there any hallmarks on the silver - Made in England Sterling items usually carry some hallmarks somewhere on the silverwork - date code for the year plus the lion passant and town marks - often the makers initials too. These things can help to date a pen.

The clip is an add-on for convenience based on the brand and different finish.

Lovely piece. What a great find!

It isn't a style I have seen before but would say that it dates from the later 1920's to mid 1930's.

As Marlow said, the clip is an added later item.

I don't think the nib is UK production, so my assessment is that it is a locally produced pen with a bought in overlay so that it has the added cudos of 'England' on it. I doubt if it has a hallmark as .925 is Sterling Silver in which case it would have said so and been hallmarked (but cost more to buy).

Thank you everyone for the appreciation and the additional info. I haven't inked it yet.

The cap shows additional "RAJA" embossed on it.

Actually you can see the .925 mark in one of the photos!

You might want to try the Regional Focus -> Great Britain & Ireland - Europe subforum to get more information. This post mentions RAJA as a known brand:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
