Montblanc Noblesse Oblige Feeder Change

Hey guys,

I managed to ruin the feeder on one of my favorite Montblanc pens.

It is similar to this one:

1) I have no experience in repairing pens. Would changing the feeder be a doable task for me?

2) What tools to I need? I can only find 146/149 - series remover tools on eBay. This is a 522 nib.

Thanks a load in advance!

/Law

I'm sorry I can't help, but would be interested to know as well.

Yes, it's a do-able task, but there are two major obstacles to overcome:

1: Because the feed had a nipple to pierce the cartridge, you may need a special tool to knock it out, without harming the nipple. (However, if the feed you are removing is already broken, it may not matter if you just knock it out with a standard punch. The new feed is pushed into place without tools)

2: The biggest obstacle will be finding a replacement feed. You may be better off scouring the auction sites and classifieds for an old Noblesse being sold for parts. Other feeds may fit, but that would be a case of trial and error, until you find a suitable size.

Hope you can get it fixed. They're great pens.

Good luck.

So, it is friction set, isn't it?

I thought that it was more complicated, kinda like in the meisterstuck where you need -AFAIK- special tools.

Yes. Ideally I'd always use the tool to remove the feed case in Meisterstucks. But, nibs and feeds are friction fit int the feed=case - sometimes, they can be pulled and replaced without removing the feed case.

This what I was suggesting the OP examine, if the feed is already trashed.

It's been a while since I had a Noblesse - But, as far as I can recall, the feed and nib will come out with a knockout block. I had a hollow punch which accommodated the cartrige piercing nipple. There may be a feed-case, screwed into the section, but it seems nibs and feeds can be removed without removing this.

As I say, I'm going from memory here. If other members have more concrete advice, I'm sure they'll chip in.

Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

the nib / feed is friction fit

can be taken oiut with firm pressure between thumb pulp on nib and the knuckle of index finger on feed

but hat is the easier part - finding a replacement would be the real challenge

Enjoy your pens

Have a nice day
