Anyone Heard From Brad Torelli?

Has anyone heard from Brad Torelli recently? I have four vintage Montblancs with him since September, but have been able to get through to him since late December (I have tried email and phone). I know he is typically very responsive and his voicemail is now full as well. Hopefully everything is all right.

I have spoken with him. He is dealing with health issues but is expected to make a full recovery. I would expect communication to be a bit delayed for the time being.

Thank you for the heads up. I knew he had some medical issues a few months ago, but wasn't sure what happened after that. I am glad to hear he is doing ok and expected to make a full recovery.

Thanks for letting everyone know. Brad is a class act and such an interesting guy to talk to. Wishing him a speedy recovery and lots of patient customers when he returns to the work bench.

I don't have anything invested in this thread, but I had to say that I'm happy to see people exchanging information and giving the benefit of the doubt to someone before all hell breaks loose. Kudos to you all for taking the time to understand the situation and helping one another out.

I too sent Brad an email 2 weeks ago.

I knew he was having a health issue that needed surgery and he kept putting it off...I was surprised because he was working in a lot of pain.

Thank God he finally got the help needed and will make a full recovery...

I hope he’s ok, I’ve been calling him and e-mailing him. It never dawned on me that he might be ill, he’s such a fit guy. Hope he makes a full recovery, and thanks for the update.

I emailed him recently to see if he was back to work, but have not heard anything yet. We will hear when he's ready.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Has anyone heard any further news? Tried calling; no luck. I've had a MB with him since last August...

He is kicking about and slowly getting back to work. I have not spoken to him but heard from at least three people he is recovering.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
