I recently acquired a 146 Bordeaux and that has a scratchy nib. I took a look at the nib with a 10x loupe and it appears the tines are not properly aligned. Does anyone know if Montblanc will tune the nib if I send it in for servicing? Or will they consider the nib damaged and require me to do a nib exchange?

Note: I'll be sending it in for servicing anyways since it's scratched all over the pen, just worried they'll write-off the nib and make me get a new one. In which case, it would be better to send it off to get adjusted and ground down to a fine first.

I would send it to a pro instead - the guys at MB cannot do the kind of magic that a nibmeister can. And polishing the pen is an easy enough job for any pro and wont cost much. So, I would send to a pro

Well the piston nob looks and feels like it's been "buffed" with sandpaper (e.g. it's not longer the same smooth texture as the rest of the pen) and there are significant scratches all over it. So I'd rather have Montblanc replace the parts with new ones under their flat rate service while they still carry the parts.

I've heard MB has limited Bordeaux parts left so you might want to check before sending in the pen.

If they do, a simple nib alignment would be included in service level 1.

I called the Canadian service center and they said they were still servicing the pens. I'll be dropping off the pen at a local Montblanc boutique, but maybe I should give them a call again to make sure they have the parts. In any case, it's good to know they won't be writing off nib and asking me to replace it.
