@old_enough Almost certainly the nib on your Extra Otto is a size 9 (or 😎 nib. I have never seen size 6 nib on any Extra Otto model, and only on Extra 1930 with the Korean model. Enjoy!

I did wonder about the naming of the dark blue and gray material, until I found this butterfly, which also lives in Italy.

 

I really love this pen. Not only it looks gorgeous but it also writes like a dream. The M nib is on the finer end of the spectrum as I had hoped for.

This is a very beautiful pen. It is almost exactly the same that Montegrappa offers (or offered) in its 888 Limited Edition Extra Otto, with exactly the same celluloid, but with a silver grip.
 

Looking at your pen, I think that Montegrappa should offer both the versions, with the grip in silver and celluloid, allowing the customer to chose the type he prefers. This would be a must for the many pen aficionados who dislike metal grips.

I am commenting on a post two months old, but I have to say that this “bone” Extra Otto is truly magnificent.

 

I remember that Montegrappa was offering, among the choice of materials  for their customized pens, some kind of rare (and pretty expensive) mammoth bone. The celluloid of your pen, como, has much more depth and life.

 

I always watched at the Extra Otto, in most of her declinations, as a “dress pen”, due to the highly elaborate and, in my opinion, the very elegant cap ring and clip that Montegrappa created for this pen. Your pen is no exception. Congratulations, my friend!

Yes, from the outside this Korean Edition is quite the same as the standard Extra Otto in Butterfly. You can also get a celluloid section by using the configuration tool on Montegrappa‘s website, but you will loose the standard cap band. 
 

But this cap band is one of the things that has drawn me to the Extra Otto. I love the pattern. The photo attached shows the “dark side of the butterfly”.

I agree with you, the Extra Otto cap band is a must, and this puts me off from the Otto Custom. Personally, I have no problems with the slippery nature of metal grip, and from a purely aesthetic point of view, maybe I have a slight preference for the two-color celluloid/metal grip than for the three-color celluloid/metal thread/celluloid.

I can relate to that. Sterling silver also is not as slippery as other metals, so I don’t have a usability problem there.
 

For me, aesthetically the silver section extends the nib visually and pushes the colorful material away to the back of the pen. So while the pen looks like a rod of color with some metal accents when closed, the metal becomes dominant when the pen is open. 
 

A section in the same color and material like barrel and blind cap changes this. The result (to me) is more consistent with the impression the closed pen gives. Nib and metal threads become accents again. 
 

 

But this is just a personal impression. Any other view is as good as mine as long as we like our choices. I surely do.
