Is It Possible To Get A Custom Pelikan M1000 Body Made?

Recommended Posts

hello my fellow FP lovers, I am not sure if this topic has been posted earlier, but my question is if its possible to get a custom Pelikan M1000 body be made or if anyone has tried this experiment, or if there is someone out there who makes custom Pelikan m1000 bodies.

I know it sounds adventurous to pursue such an endeavour but I can't seem to get this idea out of my mind.

Currently own

Pelikan M1000 Broad nib

Pelikan m400 Tortoise Shell white

Pelikan 140 Medium

Thanks for reading

Do you want a custom pen to take an M1000 nib or an M1000 with different materials? Both are possible, the later would be more expensive. Custom pen makers take commissions but most will not rebuild an M1000 so you will need to look around.

Jeez!!

@Pakman and Zaddick :Thank you for posting such amazing pictures of your M1000's.

And Wow! I was considering @Pakman's M1000 option until Zaddick posted his M1000 which is a complete mod, Im looking forward to get it in a caramel popcorn pen blank, if that is possible. But I have to say I'd love to have both styles.

Do you mind sharing how much does a mod like that cost at Pakman and Zaddick?

Enjoy those beauties!

Shawn Newton lists his prices on his website, Newton Pens. I bought my pen from the original owner, and it was not cheap. I don't thin Paul does this type of work anymore, but I suppose money talks. ;)

I think John at Twiss pens in the UK can do a full pen. Last I looked he had one on his site for a thousand pounds. If you supply the parts it would be cheaper I imagine.

I think many skilled pen makers are capable of doing this but don't as it is a fair amount of work and there is probably some legal implications possible as it can look like a Pelikan but was not made by Pelikan.

Thank you everyone for replying to my post, I appreciate you guys speaking to me about this.

@cbmd : That would have been an insane project...an M1000 in arco, I'm speechless. How do you even get your hands on arco celluloid in the first place?

I just saw the pictures and its pure madness! Looks insane!

I'm a purist and don't personally go in for custom work but that is one beautiful pen. I wish Pelikan would be just a bit more adventurous along these lines.

My goodness, that is beautiful! Do you know if preserving the ink window caused any problems?

No, it just means it started as a black pen with an ink window. Shawn Newton can do the bodies like that too.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
