In food little video comparison of copper Orange and bronze...

It was evening capture..

Basically the bronze ink is more orange and light whereas the copper Orange is more rusty reddish and dark

Ah looks like the fontoplumo ink swab is correct then. Unfortunately (or fortunately) now I don't have to be interested in getting a full bottle. I really thought it'd be more toward actual bronze color.

I think the cartridge will do best

Thank you for sharing this comparison; I have the ink preordered & have been wondering what it might look like!

Will work best in broad nibs... Also I was thinking it's better to keep novelty sometimes

For all those who can order in the German Lamy Online Shop, good news!

The bronze is available for order! You find it among the other AL-Stars. No announcement on the start page so far.

AND: The ink is also available in bottles! Ink bottles for se Fatherland!

I love the Lamy special edition orange pen and ink. Won't go for this pen, too close in color. May get the ink as the first was limited edition and no longer available.

It has arrived. As I suspected - it looks like polished bronze.

Seems to be quite a strange color, in some photos it looks very orange, in others... not so much.

Have you tried the ink yet? Is it worth buying?

I think the comment about "strange color" is referring to the fact that the photograph shows a much more gold-yellow color with a hint of green compared to the promotional photographs that show a murky orange color.

e.g. this picture from GouletPens:

Here is a quick comparison. The promo pics are all quite off.

Thanks for the comparison to the copper orange! I also will patiently look forward to seeing the ink on paper.

Yes, this is pretty much what I meant :) . It's not only the promo shots that have shown a color more similar to Copper Orange, though. Lots of color variety in the photos I've seen so far :yikes:

That's a good comparison! Thank you.

I think of bronze as being more brown than any image I've seen so far of either pen or ink. Every photo seems to show the pen and ink as being too orange or too yellow to match my expectation for "bronze". Which is too bad, because I'd like an Al-Star in what I think of as bronze colour.

Well, I think I can pass on this one. Looks kinda like the metal Jinhao 599 someone gave me a couple of years ago.

Perhaps you could get a piece of bronze as a color standard.

Thanks for the comparison photo because in your first pic it was looking more gold than bronze on my screen. I am still very undecided on this one.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
