Just got this Canadian 94 the other day and thought I'd share it with you Waterman fans . Writes as good as it looks and flexes nicely .

Is that the right lever?

It looks like the one for a hard rubber 94 rather than for a celluloid 94.

It doesn't look genuine to me either ... (not even sure it's a Waterman one).

Nice color.

Kinda wondered about that myself . It has an open rather rounded fancy W on it . Not very familiar with Canadian pens and only own one Doric and a few older pre 1930's Watermans . I think the box has been out so it may very well all be replacement . Sure writes nice and I like the color so it may not be a first rate collectable but it is still a great pen . I imagine an original can be found if I really get to feeling the need .

After doing a little more looking at 94's on the internet I am thinking that this should have a lever with an end shaped similar to the one on the pocket clip rather than the round one that it has . Would that be correct ?

Yes, the end of the lever would typically, on an American-made pen, look much like the end of the clip on your pen. As your pen was made in Canada, it is not so straight forward (I hadn't noticed your mention of it being Canadian when I first commented). Canadian Watermans (and Parkers) often appear with a mix of parts. Your pen looks fantastic and if it's a good writer, I would not worry about it.

If the lever works and the pen fills, enjoy using the pen!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
