Interesting, I haven't had good luck with glass nibs. But then again I got a vintage pen. Maybe I will try it when I am in taiwan next.

I have a dip glass pen. Very tricky to use. You have to rotate it just right, and it is very ink sensitive. Some inks work - some don't.

Can't believe how expensive those ones are!

35000+tax is indeed really really expensive for what it is...... Like seriously? It costs as much as a used MB 149 or Pelikan M1000...... Only so slightly cheaper than a Izumo. WTH

I say its more a return to the realm instead ; glass nib fountain pen was actually pretty mainstream in the just post war era in Japan and Taiwan cause then the Mfr was unable to source proper material for making nibs and even if they find some it would be in restricted supply as well as being too expensive, the glass nib was used out of necessity; not any artistic or creative ambitions. Of course the situation only last really short while until everything economics get back into track.

 

Still I do not think the current vogue make much except for being fashion and hype, and te price being asked for is simply out of this world

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
