Availability Of Birmingham Inks

Somewhere in the murk I recall seeing a rumor that Birmingham Pens might de-emphasize their ink production. I see on their site that many of their inks are not available. Anyone have any information about what is happening with this company?

It seems as if the bottles are available but not the samples.

A few weeks ago, there was a message indicating that Birmingham Pens will no longer carry as many goods by other manufacturers, because the company wants to focus on its own production. There were steep discounts on a variety of other brands, for example Iroshizuku.

I certainly hope they won't discontinue their own inks, which I've found to be interesting and well behaved.

Hi JM, et al,

I like their inks, too.

According to their website, they're looking for a new location... or they're moving to a new location... ...I cannot recall exactly which one,...

...but my guess is they do not want to move a lot of heavy ink, so they've suspended production until they're settled in their new location. At least, that's my guess... and I'm sticking to it. :D

Be well.

Just to follow-up...

If you notice, they're "sold-out" of A LOT of stuff... probably so they'll have less to move.

They also promise a new location soon... so don't give up the ghost. :D

P.S.: Btw, IIRC, DeAtramentis makes their inks and they bottle it on location.

Hhhmmmm... this is interesting to know... I thought it was just their relocation that was causing the inventory attrition.

Still and all, this news should only affirm the stability of their house-brand inks. :)

Ruth will probably comment at some point-I think she keeps close tabs on them and lives close enough to what was their store to have firsthand knowledge of what is happening there.
