Scribo Feel

These seem like great pens, but the expense is giving me pause for thought!

That said, there's a good chance that I will order one before year end.

Meanwhile, I would appreciate if anyone can point out how to order these directly from Scribo :)

Hi,

I think the easiest way to order directly is just to email Luca and friends at ciao@scritturabolognese.com

Cheers,

Ralf

Ralf,

Thanks for your reply - I was worried that I was missing something obvious, but that seems like a simple way forward

Please let us know how it goes ordering "direct." Hopefully Luca & team will provide the type of high quality customer service that purchasers of such expensive pens deserve. As has been discussed elsewhere in this sub-forum, one is best advised to not do so at the other Company currently trying to make its business from using the Omas name. That Company's awful customer service has quickly become legendary among pen collectors and, at least for that Company, one is far better advised to work through an AD who will then have to deal with the Company when the pens require any post sales service / warranty work. Which, apparently, is quite often.

As for ADs, it appears as though Luca has chosen some very good ones. I wonder if he will direct you to go through them to make your purchase? Something else to let us know once you have tried to place your order with him.

BTW, from "dapprman's" interview with Luca, we know Luca reads our posts here. Perhaps he would want to make a post and let us know how he advises one should proceed with placing an order??

Hi Seney724,

The process for me was that I signed up for the Scribo email updates, and one of them, right around the time of the London Writing Equipment Show, offered an opportunity to order the pen direct by email. I let SB know my preferences for nib and colour, and then received a paypal invoice a couple of days later. It was very courteous and simple, including a personal email "thank you" from Luca, which I appreciated.

I also corresponded with Luca while he was at Omas, and have nothing but good to say.

The ADs are indeed excellent, but I'd rather buy direct in order to maximise income to the new company. Not anything against the dealers-- quite the opposite-- but as someone who has been involved in startups I know how much the first few Euros matter.

Happy to answer any other questions. And as I'm starting to sound like a commercial for SB, let me add that there is no conflict of interest-- I am simply an interested and happy customer!

Cheers,

Ralf

ps. Good idea about Luca posting!

Hello everybody,

It took a few days to get my account validated but finally I'm here...

I'm Luca Baglione, passionate of fountain pens and co-founder of SCRIBO – Scrittura Bolognese.

I read the posts about SCRIBO and the Feel with great interest and I’d like to thank you all for the attention you gave us.

Thank you for all the comments, for those enthusiastic, for the positive ones and also for those with some concerns. It is from all of them that we can learn and correct the shot for the future!

Before I give some due explanation about the pre-order process of the Feel collection and about our Customer Service, I feel the need to clarify the identity of SCRIBO and what we expect to do in the future.

I want to say it clearly, we do not pretend to be the new Omas, we cannot and do not want to be.

We are simply a new Company with a long history behind; again, we cannot and do not want to forget our past, our history, our background.

We simply came from there and we all learned how to make pens in the Omas way. Of course, we miss Omas. It is still inside us somewhere, but it’s gone, and we do not want to speculate on it, knowing well that none of the new recently founded Companies could or will ever reach its greatness.

SCRIBO is our present and, we hope, our future made up of fountain pens, high quality nibs, paper and ink made for fountain pens only.

It’s a present made of enthusiasm, passion and of a healthy fear not to be able to make SCRIBO growing up as we would like, as we have in mind to do.

For sure, we will do our best and I’d like to take advantage of this post to thank all the people who are already supporting us by ordering the Feel directly at SCRIBO.

At this regard and going back to the main issue, one of our short-term goals is to offer a nice and friendly ecommerce service. Soon It will be ready, hopefully by the time the Feel will be ready for delivery, in late November.

In the while we are collecting pre-orders by email.

Writing an email at ciao@scritturabolognese.comand showing interest on the Feel, you will be answered with all information you need to know on how to proceed with your purchase. It’s a simple way but we think it’s enough to start the pre-orders of the Feel.

Very few words on the Customer Service: when someone decides to purchase directly at SCRIBO, the pen will be shipped from Bologna, from our offices. In the same way, whoever may need help in the future with A/S service he/she should ship the pen back to SCRIBO in Bologna. We will take care of it as we’d do if a Dealer needs a fountain pen to be repaired.

Thanks a lot for your attention and apologize if I was too long with my post.

I promise I will not do it again!

Greetings from Bologna!

Luca

This is terrific! Thank you so much Luca.

How can one not be impressed with your kind approach to your present and prospective customers!!

For sure, sales, service and after sales issues will be managed in a totally different manner by SCRIBO. And, this is so nice to know!

Good luck!

Thanks for the great post Luca- and welcome to FPN! It might be worth doing one in the Market Watch too. That's where people put more blatant advertising. Have a look and see what you think.

Best,

  • 1 month later...

Ciao,

I just got an email today from Luca to let me know my order (two pens for my wife and myself to celebrate a special anniversary) is having the final nib adjustments and will be on the way tomorrow. I'm going to open them on 25 December, making Christmas even more special, and I'll let folks know how they are "in person"! I think I really like the look of the carrying case thingy that comes with them.

Still excited, and no buyer's remorse yet, even though they aren't cheap . . . .

Mine has been dispatched from Bologna, and should arrive with me next Monday :)

I am unlikely to wait until Christmas Day to open it ;)

Hi Ralf,

Yes, the pen arrived safely – many thanks to Luca and the Scribo team :)

I may have some photos on Thursday, or certainly by the weekend. I want some natural light to do it justice – a scarce commodity in Ireland at this time of year!

I have inked it and written a couple of pages, and so far I am very impressed. The material is beautiful, and the fit and finish are superb. Mine is the blue-black finish, with a standard medium nib, which writes a slightly finer line than the Milord medium I've been using lately.

This pen has real presence – I was surprised to find that it’s actually longer than the MB149.

Overall, it would be fair to say that I’m smitten

That's great to hear! But it does make it MUCH harder to wait until Christmas . . . . . .

Thanks,

I’ve filled quite a few journal pages with the Scribo FEEL this week :)

It’s a really wonderful pen, and I’m fairly sure I’ll pick up the blue-grey version to keep it company

So cool, gmax, thank you! Mine have arrived at home on the West Coast, and of course Im on the East Coast with flight delays!

Did the paper and ink come with the pen, or did you have to orde them separately? (I didnt know you could, if so!)

Does the pen feel Omas-y, in your opinion? I dont mind either way, just curious.

Thanks again,

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

The card envelope contains the warranty and other paperwork, though no actual writing paper. Incidentally, the warranty is for 36 months.

The ink was a surprise enclosure, and the one I received is a nice shade of grey. The pouch is also very nice - I just didn't have it to hand when I took the photos.

I'd say the pen does feel Omas-y, in terms of the nib and section, and in terms of hand-feel of the resin material. However, there are also plenty of design touches that make it new and uniquely SCRIBO. The curved forms, the elegant clip, and the detailing on the cap band all show real flair, and have their own distinctive character :)

I salute your forbearance in waiting til Christmas to open yours. I'm sure the wait will be worthwhile :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
