Similar in one word, similar in written sample - but still not the same. Both lovely, warm, autumn colours.

This is an attempt (capital "A") of few lines and dots with the pen on watered paper (namrehsnoom, thanks for describing in your reviews the technique!).

Diamine Ancient copper leaning more brownish red, and Monteverde Copper Noir more towards orange.

I was hoping to see a lot of Amethysts, Sapphires, Royal blues, Midnights..

Good call. I was thinking of a fruit or vegetable theme. Maybe I'm just hungry...

And now I feel sooo predictable!

My entry for this month; Diamine Grape and Iroshizuku Yama Budo (which means 'mountain grape')

So how do British grape compare to Japanese mountain grape? Are they even the same fruit? If famously "French rock is like English wine", is Japanese mountain wine like French sushi? These questions, among many others, will not be answered below

(drawing on Tomoe River, uninspired writing sample on Rhodia)

Diamine Grape is one of these inks that change colour quite drastically as it dries; it's pretty much a dark blurple when wet, and goes reddish over time (drawing was made on saturday, pitcure taken today (wednesday)). Franklin Christoph Tenebris Purpuratum does something similar. In this case I prefer the dry colour than the wet one, so I'm happy.

I don't use Yama Budo a lot.. I don't use it enough. It's just a bit too wild for daily use. But every time I ink a pen with it i re-realise and remember how gorgeous it is.

I like this prompt and the comparisons so far. I keep coming up with combos of one ink I have (e.g. Diamine Steel Blue) and other inks that I do NOT have, but that would be interesting combos (e.g. Birmingham Andrew Carnegie Steel Blue). Ill come up with something ...

I think you nailed the water technique! Very lovely! I think I slightly prefer Copper Noir.

In this particular case I think I like Japanese grapes more!

Love these 2 entries, thanks. I have 3 of these inks and now it looks like I may have to buy Diamond Grape as well.

I really like the Flower Set from Diamine. A most gorgeous selection of happy colours.

For this month I'm choosing two Olivines, and they look so different from each other:

And I prefer the colour of mixing them together:

I was thinking along the same lines -- but you beat me to the punch, Lgsoltek (well except for the mixing part, of course...).

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Show us yours though!

I think I made a mistake in my first swab and possibly in mixing as well. I just realised I had put Edelstein Olivine in the box of Aventurine and Aventurine in the box of Olivine...

Edit:

Just checked, the big swabs in the first pic were wrong indeed. They were Monteverde Olivine and Edelstein Aventurine...

I made another batch of Two Olivines and I can't tell whether the previous mixture was correct or not...

Nice! These are 2 very nice inks and a great match as well.
I shall take a closer look at Herbin Lie de the and maybe get a sample or a bottle – it looks very pretty indeed

You might not find it this way. I seem to have trouble with some of my pens. I equally hey this with Skrip Blue and Autumn Oak (last is the worst), if that helps you judge...

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
