Krishna After Dark

This is After Dark from Krishna. It is one of the Super Rich series ink, and boy is that an apt description. The ink is a rich royal blue and seems very saturated, but may just be a very dark ink. Regardless, it is very well behaved especially for such a seemingly highly saturated ink. Considering this is a blue ink the water resistance was a very pleasant surprise. A vibrant, good flowing, water resistant ink. Only downside is the small bottle, but I can always order more. Smells distinctly of phenol.

See, it's water resistant, as in paper chromatography with dH2O barely moved the ink. Seems like only one dye component.

Looks like a nice one.

Thanks for the review. And, well, not.... (My wallet -- my poor, poor wallet! :headsmack:)

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I enjoy your reviews. They feel and look "real" if that makes any sense.

Many of us know first hand how difficult it is to represent an ink's colour, density, look etc accurately. Thank you for doing it so well.

Thanks for the kind words. I just try to tell it like I sees it. I just got in six inks from Krishna. So far I'm really impressed.

A very nice colour! Perhaps somewhat looks like Diamine Oxford Blue maybe?

Maybe so, that is one ink I don't have so I can't compare. From what I can tell based on online photos I'd say Oxford Blue leans more purple. After Dark also won't sheen. If it helps this ink made me think generically of some of the darker but still vibrant blues from Private Reserve like DC Supershow blue.

Great job.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Diamine Blue Velvet also seems pretty close to this one

I always considered it to be more of a cobalt blue myself. And yeah, it's one of the best blues I have written with.

One word of caution- this ink stains pens. It's no baystate blue, but beware of using it with ED demonstrators- you might get a cobalt blue one in a month or two.

Oh, and it's regretful how bigger Krishna ink bottles are not available outside India. I'm currently finishing my 30 ml bottle, and I got a 100 ml glass bottle of After Dark.

~ It's indeed a “gorgeous color”, as noted in the review.

While I generally favor pale inks, Krishna After Dark is visually appealing.

The colour is beautiful. But, this ink stains pens like CRAZY. It took me 2 days to clean out the stains from my TWSBI Diamond 580.
