Hi All,

I saw this at Pen Boutique Tokyo the other day, they said it's the new Sailor KOP, does anyone have any information on this pen finish? My understanding is it's ebonite, is there any other pen with ebonite like this? Quite unique.

Apparently the same type of layered ebonite material last used on the 105th Anniversary Pen(different color pattern of course).

 

Have to say I'm also not a big fan of this color combo

They are clever, they bring this pen out before Pilot starts selling the anniversary pens. People still have some money. :)

Its a very well-priced pen, at least in Japan. ~¥80000 for an ebonite KOP is very good value...

Too many pens; too little writing.

Regular black ebonite KOP costs 70,000 plus tax. You can pick it up at 60,000 inclusive of tax.

 

This KOP reminds me of those unappealing looking Indian Ebonite pens.

I hardly ever see KOPs in urushi or ebonite in the wild in Japan. They simply dont seem to be available...

Too many pens; too little writing.

Urushi is rare, they are discontinued as per sailor. Ebonite is easy.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
