J. Herbin Bleu De Profounders

As a huge fan of J. Herbin inks, I was thrilled to learn about five new standard inks introduced in 2018. I've got the bottles and I'll review them shortly.

New inks come in standard J. Herbin glass bottles that contain 30 ml of the writing fluid.

BdP is great. I like bb inks, especially when they're more complex and this one fills the bill. It's saturated, it flows very well and has reasonable amount of lubrication (although it's nowhere near Sailor inks in this regard). Overall, it's a keeper.

I saw this in the shop when I bought the Vert de Gris the other week. It must not have wooed me as much then as your review does now otherwise I'm sure I'd have bought a bottle.

Thanks again for another solid, reliable review. :)

Very interesting ink and (as usually) a great review. Thanks :)

BTW where did you buy it?

Well, I'd buy it from Papier & Stift (where I bought other new Herbins (7.95 € for 30 ml or 3.60 € for 10 ml) but I'm not sure you'd weed out 17.50 € for shipment just one country east. (Don't forget that the 30-ml bottle is the usual Herbin "standard bottle" with the ramp up front for laying down a pen plus a box, whereas the small thin, rounded 10-ml bottle is without a box.)

Very nice navy color, and I appreciate the sheen and the water resistance. Thanks for the prompt review!

As I mentioned in a comment on your blog, this could be a great substitute for Montblanc JFK. I will pick a bottle up at the Dallas show next month.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Just what I need -- ANOTHER blue-black.... :headsmack:

Just what I need -- ANOTHER blue-black!

Sigh.

I really need to stop reading ink reviews. Thanks Vis (and at the same time no thanks...).

That's why I've asked visvamitra where did he buy it.

I'd rather wait until this ink will be available in Poland.

Thanks for your information lapis :)

A friend bought a bottle of this at the recent San Francisco Pen Show and put it in a Parker 75 Cisele with an extra fine nib. I had the chance to try it, and it wrote a lovely clear line, with more than adequate lubrication. It is an elegant blue, not bright, not drab. If I needed a blue, it is probably the one I'd buy.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
