Parker And Yard-O-Led Rolled Gold Ballpoints. Any Info?

So I was given a bunch of old pens when my mum was clearing out her stuff and most of it was worthless Parker 25s or Vectors that I've pretty much shoved in a drawer. However there were two pens that interested me.

One is a Parker and one is a Yard-O-Led Rolled Gold pen. It's a ballpoint but the refill inside is really not of the quality I'd have expected from a YOL and it doesn't even appear to fit.

The pen doesn't twist all the way with the refill in either so the point never full retracts.

Oddly I have NO idea where she got this pen from - it is engraved M. King but neither of us know a King.

So I'm trying to figure out what kind of age it is and also where I can get a proper refill for it?

With regards to the Parker - I know it's not old or valuable but the name of it would be nice if anyone can help!

Thanks.

Hi,

I have a feeling that it's nearly impossible to get YoL replacements for their vintage ballpoints.I did spend some time trying to find one for a 1960s without any joy, and couldn't even find a compatible one. I recall Cob also mentioning on the GB forum that he had tried for a long, long time and never found one.

Oh no really? That's upsetting. It's such a nice little pen! Guess it'll be one for the 'pen stand' without using it then :(

It is possible that someone has managed to find one for the YoL.

I can't tell the age of yours, and it might be a more recent one meaning refills are available, you never know. Here is a link to the thread I was mantioning above, you could revive it and hopefully get more responses.

Good luck

From what I can tell (and using the info on the refills) it's one of the earlier ones before they changed the Parker looking refills as the latter one wouldn't fit in the tube of the pen. But a website on that post does in fact do refills for mine (I hope - it looks similar). But I still would like to find out how old it is and if there's a value to it. So I will keep looking :)

As for pictures of the Parker - here you go thx1138

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
