Do I Have A Nakaya Problem?

It would seem maybe so! I'll probably take some to DC this weekend, but I have as much trouble letting them go as I do passing them up when they become available!

Do I need an intervention? Can a good nibmeister provide one?

Speechless! What a collection! Can't wait til DC. No intervention needed. Just buy some jewelry for your wife and some bonds for your kids each time you get a pen for yourself.

The only problem I can imagine would be that there were others you might want & have not yet purchased.

The only problem I see are 9 or so empty slots.

Whichwatch, really NICE collection. And here I thought I had too many:)

Just curious. When you have so many pens from one manufacturer, do you have the almost the same few nibs, or do you now have the entire Nakaya selection of nibs?

Personally I have everything from F to C, a modified C nib to an italic and quite a few musics. I am thinking of getting YET another Nakaya. But I am really having a tough time deciding on the nib. BTW not a fan of EFs so don't plan to add that to my collection yet.

.

They cover a full range from Fine up. My tastes run broad so many if not most are BB some ground to stubs or cursive italics and some obliques. My favorites are two Architect Points

Ooooh, who ground the architect nibs?

I have a bunch of mediums, and BBs, and can't decide if I want a music or a UEF next. >_>

John Mottishaw did both

The thought of having multiple Nakayas never occurred to me until I received my first one two days ago. As soon as I saw and handled it, I began thinking of a second.

Creeping Nakayaitis. I don't know of a cure. I have two and and constantly saving, scheming, and googling for my third.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
