As many said before, thanks for this incredible work. May I suggest, in section 5, an additional fountain pen : made of painted porcelain and edited in only 5 unnumbered pieces, this « Marinière edition » was launched through the famous fashion store Colette (closed nowadays). I can send you press articles and picture by PM, if youre interested.

Best regards

Thierry

And thank you Thierry and Tom for the information on the Colette limited edition! I was a big fan of the boutique when it was open but this pen was from before my pen "collection" days, so it's exciting to see that they partnered with Montblanc. Have you seen the nib? Do you know if it's the standard rhodium coated 18k nib?

The promotional material posted on the Internet never showed or described the nib.

It's unclear which nib it might be.

The distinctive cap and barrel design received much attention, deservedly so.

It's an attractive model.

Thank you again! My search couldn't uncover any nib photos either. Hopefully someone on the forum has one of these wonderful pens and can share some with us. Edited by bstnnyc

Hi everyone, in fact I have one of the 5 pieces. As far as I remember, the nib was a regular 146’s but I need to find the pictures I made. Please let me some time to get them and I will post them here so that you can use them -if you want so- in your next « catalogue ».

@monsieurblanc : the pen was issued in a very limited quantity : 5 for the whole world, so you can imagine they have been sold out as soon as on the market. I think the only way to get one will be through auctions, at auctioneers or at Ebay, and the price will naturally be very high’ according to the extremely short limitation and despite the fact it’s not mentioned on the pens themselves. I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
