I think that's the price in yen (2,000) rather than the date, for the Sailor.

I was on Ebay the other day and bid in two auctions for these older pens. The little Sailor has a 2000 date on its sticker and writes great. Its a cartridge only pen. The other stripped one is a Pilot. It has a Con 40 converter. I flushed and flushed it.I don't think it had ever been flushed. The sailor is almost new and one flushing cleaned it out. Anyone know how old the Pilot is?

The Pilot is a Custom model from the 1970s. The nib should have a more precise date code on it, but, from you pic I cannot see it. Should start with an "H"...
