I also ordered mine from Cult pens because I want to get the SM nib . The pen left for England and will return

to Japan this time : waste of time and energy.

Got mine today missed post yesterday). It's everything Pelikan pens aren't - i.e. it really does look like the advert photo shots :)

Man what an unfortunate name for the English speaking consumer base. I'll be skipping this one (not because of the name). Thanks for sharing.

It looks even more stunning than in the official marketing pictures.

The Kumpoo arrived today. It is beautiful as the picture showed. At first I used Montblanc Oyster grey however the ink flow was poor, then I changed to iroshizuku ama-iro, the result is amazing on the soft medium nib. I would like to try the new Montblanc elixir colorist collection azure later.

Montblanc inks tend to drier than most of the Japanese inks. This may not be particularly relevant for broad and double broad nibs, but with medium and finer nibs, the ink flow is going to be poor.

Mine also has the SM nib, and I enjoy it a lot. Iroshizuku syo-ro makes a nice pairing with this pen :)

I have heard that the Platinum SM nib is not so popular in Europe and US while it is very popular in Japan.

Making SM nib requires a lot of efforts in Platinum. I do not know why, but the price is the same. To get

SM nib is very profitable deal, I think.

I wonder why US retailers ended up with all these SM nibs then. I have yet to get familiar with soft or flex nibs, so I actually wanted to order a standard M or B nib. Instead all that were left were SM nibs, so that’s what I got.

I already had a Nakaya SM nib, so I chose the Platinum SM rather than standard M, knowing that it would be a wet writer with a nice cushioned writing feel

I think that Platinum didn't understand the situation.I hope

the improvement next time.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
