My second CRV ever. Thank you, amberleadavis!

I'm glad I got to see so many inks. I had never seen any of them on paper in person.

These are not all the pages, I'm trying to come up with things to doodle in the other pages.

Seitz-Kreuznach Palm Green and Pelikan 4001 Dark Green.

Noodler's Russian Series Rachmaninoff & Caran D'Ache Chromatics Idyllic Blue.

Part of Idyllic Blue is darker than the rest because I used the rectangular marquee tool in Photoshop to darken Rachmaninoff to make it look as close as reality as possible, but at the same time Idyllic Blue became too dark, thus the division. I don't know why but my scanner turned Rachmaninoff into a J. Herbin Rouille d'Ancre color every time. Witchcraft!

I love these! I've never heard of Kaweco Sommer Lila but it looks gorgeous in those block letters!

It's a very nice violet. I didn't know Kaweco also made inks until I received a cartridge from a pen friend. Sommer Lila is in my ink wish list now, I really like it and hope to get a bottle soon.

The Pelikan 4001 inks look great here, and the visuals are a lovely contribution, especially the songbirds :)

That Rose Noir is so much more purple than expected and not a bad ink for you to compare with the Kawako.

And that Dark Green Pelikan compared with the S&K is useful to see.

Thank you for doing these!!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you. I was very nervous about messing it all up with my silly doodles.

Yes, the Rose Noir is a jolly card. I never know what hue is going to come out of the nib, and when it comes out darker it's lovely.

Thanks to YOU!

Ladies, thank you for doing this CRVs, it’s great to see familiar inks side by side with (to me) less familiar.

Note to self: frankfurter and sepia on wish list... and dA roses

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
