Help Identifying Strange "rail" Nib On A Swan 2C Safety

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a pen lot in of an auction, with my eye on a Swan Safety filler with a gold band in the original box. However when I finally received the pen I noticed it has some kind of rail on top of the nib. I was not able to find another nib like it yet, does this look familiar to anyone ?

Yes, that's a gold top feed, often found on Swan Safety Screw Cap pens. They are also very occasionally found on Onotos.

You are fortunate: they are delicate and often found rather mangled.

Great thank you, does it have a specific purpose?

Well Mabie Todd claimed it improved flow; perhaps it does! I have had pens with broken gold overfeeds, and they seem to work fine with a bit of fiddling about.
