This is my entry... I am not happy with this one, so may try another one later in the month. (I had trouble getting a half reasonable photo.)

Nice entry, although I too don't care much for that grey... but the chocolate brown reminded me I have a 30ml bottle of that somewhere...

Here where we don't do winter, June represents the height of the windy season, I'll have to think up a combination to show it off....

Luckily cold weather is not necessary to enjoy chocolate, although this time of year I prefer it as icecream...

Damn, Diamine Chocolate Brown looks so good. And Fuyu-Syogun looks better here than I remembered it.

There is no winter where I am either. I can't say I miss it much, except reading (or playing with the cat at 'who's gonna fall asleep first') by the fire indeed.

My June choices are here:

And yes, I do like when the ink color complements the pen color. I'm funny that way... ;)

I love these monthly challenges :D

My own ink choices are traditional this time ... autumn leave orange and cold night sky blue. These are represented by Diamine Autumn Oak and Papier Plume Bayou Nightfall.

That's totally your kind of colours! And gorgeous drawing! How did you make those lighter white cloud-ish/fluffy effects?

For the cold colour, I'm using a rather banal royal blue: Seitz Kreuznach Pacific Blue.

For the warm colour, a fairly new ink and a nice surprise: J. Herbin Rouge Grenat. It's a gorgeous and rich dark red. It's so saturated, so smooth. It's not like a J. Herbin ink at all (which is a good thing IMO).

Wow! "Trippy" as we say in the States. Reminds me of a lava lamp... :)

Interesting that in the written exemplar Rouge Grenat is very much a rusty color -- but in the artwork, diluted, there's a LOT of rosy pink and some violet.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Saturate a piece of cotton string with ink, curl it up between two pages of paper, put a book on top of the pages putting pressure on them, and pull the string out. You’re guaranteed to get some nice-looking effects.

Oh, I've been doing the same thing recently, but I didn't get that "fluffy" effect like yours. I get things like this:

Maybe my string is not thick and wet enough?

I'm really enjoying the colors and the artwork that appear in these monthly ink combo threads. I always have good intentions of posting something. Usually I daydream about combos, but don't execute my ideas. I'll have to make something to post sometime soon.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
