Hi, everyone!

I wanted to introduce myself to this network. I have been a long-time pen enthusiast, and am the owner of luxury pen retailer Truphae, Inc. We specialize in high-end luxury pens from companies like Aurora, Montegrappa, ST Dupont, Visconti, etc...and have great relationships with them as well. We also carry brands such as Pelikan, Cartier, and many others. Our goal is to find the coolest pens around, particularly rare ones that many other people would have a hard time sourcing. We not only sell, but buy and consign as well.

Feel free to check out our website, www.truphaeinc.com, or follow us on social media:

Facebook: www.facebook.com/truphaeinc

We update social media daily with great new pens, and sometimes even other luxury goods like watches and lighters.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

~Chris

I am returning to them a fountain pen, limited edition specific to their store.

Maiora Aventus Amore Red & Ruthenium Trim Fountain Pen - Extra Fine

The pen was purchased for my birthday in March of this year. By June the nib, which is plated with something stopped working. Turns out the plating has something to do with the working of the nib itself. I was promised a replacement nib, they did not know when it would come in and I am to my knowledge one of two people waiting. I contacted them again and they manage to acquire from the rep. a replacement nib. I could not replace the nib myself as it is not a simple pull or screw out. They promised to send a video. Never received. Told their platform had a glitch and to provide my telephone number so they could send it. Nothing. Contacted them again, they said they would send me a label to return the fountain pen and nib to them and they would replace the nib and return it. Nothing sent. So here it is August 2nd and by the time you read this I will have sent them their limited edition fountain pen, the replacement nib to end this saga. Athough the fountain pen cost me nearly $200, if it does not perform, it is not worth two cents to me. I do not care at this point what they do with it. I have not had such a horrible experience and I have been collecting since early 90s.  I know this has nothing to do with this topic, I just needed to vent as I am extremely disappointed in them. Everthing they said they would do beyond my hounding them for a replacement nib, they have failed to do. Just be weary of Truphae Inc. and I am only one state away from them.

Greetings from Pittsburgh!  :W2FPN:

I have a friend who gave me a Monteverde Strata a few months ago -- she orders your monthly surprise packages (I'm the person who contacted you guys about what the approximate weight of the pen was, because it's on the edge of being too heavy for me).  I'm presuming that's where she also got the Hongdian pen (sorry I don't remember what the model of that was) she gave my husband.

I should have looked at the date of the original post.  This thread was abandoned for four years.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
