Wancher Pens?

The Fedon soft leather cases are out of this world in terms of pleasure to the touch, it's almost fetish... (but they are expensive).

The hard cases (second from right) are Aluminium covered in faux leather. Despite being faux leather they still feel extremely nice. I use the hard cases when traveling especially, as they really ensure additional protection (they can also be used for glasses because they have an internal ridge that separates the pens that can be pulled out). The Wancher cases are really good for larger pens, Centennials fit wonderfully for example.

Hope I'm not going too far OT.

I have 3 of the crystals: blue, green, and orange. Never used a cart or converter. They are incredibly reliable and consistent. Mine can be left untouched for weeks and write the instant nib touches paper. On occasion one of two have been left untouched for a couple months: same result! YMMV, but mine has been superb.

Ok. I just felt I had to share this. If you read my prior post, you know my experience with 3 crystal Wanchers has been great. Well, today I ran across my green crystal that had gotten bumped under some clutter on a corner of my messy desk. It had been there for at least 3 months, probably more, laying on its side undisturbed. I found it, picked it up, uncapped it, and it wrote IMMEDIATELY and WITHOUT SKIPPING A BEAT! Wow! Just...wow!

Announcement appeared today from Taizo Okegaki that ENGEIKA FINEST SHOP (his main online retail presence) is being put "on break" so that he can concentrate on developing the Wancher brand.

However, the Engeika eBay Store will continue as normal.

By all accounts the Dream Pen did well on Kickstarter but I do not know more detail than that. And I have never actually seen the Dream Pen in person.

the Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley Pen."

Wancher is the same as Engeika. Both owned by Taizo Okagaki. They've had special collaboration models with Platinum and Sailor in the past.

Taizo is a personal friend of mine he has been into pens for years. The above info is correct ,Trust Me Oneill

What number backer were you, SpecTP? And was this specifically that your pens were about to be shipped? Please give us your review when they arrive!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I'm backer #353. I got an email last week that stated my pens are due to arrive by 2/25. I'll post pics when I get them.

My number was 91 and it arrived Monday - green with 18k fine gold coloured nib and black feed. Took a week to arrive, and 4 days of those were the package sitting in a Japan post location.

The urushi is gorgeous and the nib is soft and springy. I like them a lot.

Is that a red ebonite feed I see peeking through the breather hole of the aka tamenuri? I wish I could speak to someone who had tried both ebonite and plastic feed versions to get their take one the difference in practical use.

The green is stunning by the way. I was seriously considering one of the vermillion urushi's with a red ebonite feed.

yes, I opted for the red ebonite on the aka tamenuri and regular on the green.

I have one of the Wancher Red Urushi Fountain Pens coming in the mail to me. I ordered it around 1 year ago, when they opened up that program on Kickstarter. It has taken them this long to custom make my pen along with many others. Take a look at the site; Wancherpen.com

and you will see my Red Urushi Fountain Pen there. They. are also selling these on that site for $450.00

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
