TwizzlerNibs

Hi all!

Here's a Mabie Todd I found on the parts table at the Chicago Pen Show.

Nib: MT&CO, 14ct, No2

Barrel: GOLDEN MONTANA

Nothing on the clip and the nib is nice and flexy.

I've got some other ones, so I'll stop lurking and post them soon as well.

Can you show the whole pen as well? And the lever?

How long is the pen?

It is very "Swallow-like", and my Swallow pens (combos and matching flat tops) have that same nib, and same shaped clip but with the word "swallow" on it. I would say de-badged Swallow. But "Golden Montana" is a mystery to me!

AAAaaawww! It's a baby bird! How cute!

Yep, it's a Swallow. I don't believe I have seen a debadged Swallow before.

You know it will be a good writer.

Nice find, Twizz.

Like brothers Dee and Dum, I should wear a Beanie,

Treat me softly, please don't be a Meanie.

Ultrasonic waters ran murky,

My demeanor's less perky,

And now my Swallow's best suited forWMslSBn.jpg Greenie.

Oh no!

Was it Caesin? Is there any way to reverse the colour change?

We live and learn. Enjoy.

I don't know if it is all light colored pens. This should be celluloid.

But it seems that this pattern - nacre, holstein, black and pearl chunks, or whatever you like to call it - is particularly prone to staining if you soak it and the water gets inky.

So I am having success with various laundry pre-soak products.

It completely removed the green stains from the threads on a Moore I have.

It was working partially on the Mabie Todd (which is to be given to my mom as a present, and she won't care about color) and I tried to experiment further by mixing one of the products with water and run it in the ultrasonic.

This was entirely unsuccessful. I watched as the water began to take a very slight amount of blue color (the original ultrasonic water that caused the stain was black) and thought that may be stain leaching from the cap. It was not. Most all the progress was reversed and it picked up more stain.

Still though, this has been a great experiment and I hope to figure out something for posterity, as I can find nothing on the forums addressing the issue.
