Penbbs Vacuum Filler

The threading on the back of the pen where the blind cap screws down has flat sections to fit a wrench. It's 6.5mm wide. Putting a couple pieces of electrical tape on a TWSBI wrench allowed me to unscrew the plunger mechanism with no difficulty.

I just got a transparent blue 456. Build quality is very good and it feels nice in the hand. I followed the tips gained from this thread: flushed it with water a few times, changed the nib to a Knox OB and put some silicon grease around the plunger rod. Nice pen. I left it uncapped for 3 minutes without any hard starts, probably could go longer if I was more patience in my testing.

Recommend the pen without hesitation!

I've got the same color pen with the same nib, excellent combination with the juicy Knox OB!

Might use full disassembling as a last resort but thanks for the information though

Any suggestions to remove the nib? I broke the first's fins, now that the second one has arrived and is just as hard ....

Edit: Nothing, a pair of tongs and pull by the side of the nib, really hard. As a curiosity, a Waterman # 7 enters perfectly, without forcing and fits perfectly.

Good performance of PENBBS.

Just a thought, if the barrel portion is disassembled from the section part and I push the rod all the way to the down (in the state where it draws ink), will there be access to the back side of the piston for cleaning?

No. Because plunger blocks access. It is my understanding that difficulty in cleaning is a characteristic of vacuum filler pens. And converters - as in pilot Con-70.

Patience or disassembly. A dedicated ink removes the necessity, which is my chosen method with the Niangao 456.

Agreed, a dedicated ink is a good idea with these and has the added benefit of providing another excuse to buy more of them hehe.

Noted. I've used a blue black ink in the pen so I guess it's better to use another blue based ink for the pen.

Another reason for me to buy a bottle of Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite

For those of you not as obssessed as some of us are with keeping up to date on Penbbs news, be aware that several new colors of the 456 were released last week. I believe Penbbs has made this their flagship model and are going all out with some really nice acrylics along with old standards.
