Whoops, Kaweco Paradise Blue. Looks like it didn’t survive my artsy photo. (Mental note, doodle the name at both the top and bottom next time)

Not usually a "matchy matchy" person either. Bur right now, not counting demonstrators (and what doesn't look good in a clear demonstrator?) of which I have two inked. (TWSBI 580 B stub/Noodler's Apache Sunset & Eco 1.1 stub/KWZI Pine Green)

Other than those, I have three inked currently with matching characteristics. (Pelikan M200 Brown Marbled M/KWZI Brown #4, Esterbrook transitional J 2464/Akkerman Shocking Blue, Platinum 3776 Century Borgogne B/Diamine Merlot) The last gets a pretty steady diet of Merlot. I think Brown #4 would be good in too. Almost a Doppelganger for Merlot.

I'll be scanning impressions/reviews of KWZI Pine Green, Brown #4 and El Dorado shortly. They arrived yesterday and I have been using them. (Eco 1.1/M200 M/Al Star 1.1) and comparisons with Merlot and Apache Sunset.

Thanks :)

I might have to look into getting a bottle of that... :)

I’ve got a package of cartridges. I don’t usually like to ink the same color twice in a row. But if I keep liking this ink it might well get a bottle. Maybe try it with an italic next...

Very nice.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Here is a scan of the same sheet, rather than a photo.

Some impressive matching going on! I am sooo late joining this party, but I'm determined to take part this year as well!

I regularly match pens with inks. Here are a few:

Funny —when I bought this pen many years ago, I thought that I must have been one of the few people who really liked the unusual color scheme (for Pelikan!). Who knew so many of us have one?!

The Pelikan M400 white/tortie is obviously a popular pen.

I recommend always check on Amazon.de for their price before you buy one. ;)

Love the pens and their inks ... really nice photos this month. Personally I like to match pens and ink, so I show what I'm using at the moment. On the photo, I show you my grail pen ... a Pelikan M101N Tortoiseshell Red, that's always inked up with a red/brown/purple ink. In this case, it's inked up with Mont Blanc William Shakespeare Velvet Red. A nice combination...

And here's another one that I'm currently using: the new Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue, inked up with Robert Oster Blue Water Ice.

Beautiful, subtle combinations, especially the unusual Oster ink with the Iconic Blue pen. Very nice!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
