Matching inks in some smaller pens. I especially like C D'A Amazon in my 1980s retro Kaweco 'Soap Green' Skyline Sport, with its soft Perkeo-like nib.

Apologies for wonky photo..........

I think 4001 is the darker blue in this? If so, I like. And the combination overall is very nice. Not too bright and full of shading.

Well, this is a bit late because I didn't get the photos taken until earlier this week, and then didn't get them downloaded from my phone to my laptop until this afternoon.

Paper in all cases is EcoQua A5 85 gr/m2 dot grid Bioprima Paper.

Of course I just noticed now that I've misspelled Coord-ink-ation every time.... :headsmack:

You got the first one right, LOL.

I once wanted a blue striped M405/605/805 very much, but somehow the desire went away. Money saved!

I think the striated blue is my favorite color of the Söuveran series. I could have save a little money and gotten an M400 instead, but there was just something about the rhodium plating setting off the trim -- even more than the plain gold trim did, for that color barrel.
Of course my first Pelikan was an older M400 Brown Tortoise and the rhodium would have looked weird. And if I ever have the money for a striated Red one, I would probably also get an M400 (did they ever do the Red as an M405?).

Hmmm. This one is an EF, the Brown Tortoise is a very juicy and springy F, and my M405 Stresemann is a B. So I guess I should maybe think about getting a striated Red with an M nib. Unless I decide to have the nib on the on the Stresemann reground... maybe something like a cursive italic. Then I'd have to get a red one with a B nib, wouldn't I?

The pens and inks matches:

- Montblanc G.B. Shaw with Iroshizuku Syo-Ro ( :blush:not Tsuki-Yo like I wrote on the paper...)

- Visconti Voyager Deep Burgundy with iroshizuku Yama Budo

- Montblanc Schiller with Monteverde FireOpal

- Kamilea Kahakai with Diamine Aqua Lagoon

(The paper is Rhodia)

Looking great!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It's been overcast and rainy lately, so the photo is not very well-lit, but you can still see a bit of sheen in the ink and shimmer in the pen (I think the camera app cheated and added some contrast and saturation, too)fpn_1528493871__04_april.jpgfpn_1528493885__04_april2.jpgfpn_1528494235__04_april3.jpg

Even the sheen on the Midnight ink matches the pen. Smart match!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
