April: Coord-Ink-Ation - 2018 Monthly Ink Combo Project

Recommended Posts

We're doing some slightly different matching in April. In this month, match your ink colour to your pen. You are of course welcome to match more than one pen and more than one ink. Show us your pen(s) as well!

Have fun!

Thanks LizEF for this idea for April. Click here to read more about the 2018 project.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

How interesting. :) I have several ideas already, because pairing pens with ink is something that happens regularly here. As an example my Pelikan M400 White Tortie is always filled with R&K Alt. goldgrün  I will get some written exemplars and pics. :)

This made my heart skip a beat. What a beautiful collection! Quotes from Poe, Lovecraft, and Grimm are always fun!

Possibly a first in several installments... I love to find just the right pen color to complement the ink —or vice versa!

Clearly I should do a better job of thinking ahead when I recommend themes. They sound great, but (a) I don't really have equinox inks - and the ones I do have were used in February; ( b ) I kinda like demonstrators and white pens. I suppose I could use Blue Ghost if I have any left, or get a sample of Whiteness of the Whale, but I played that trick last year...

Still, I've got some blue pens and blue inks, so...

I currently have a few pens in use which have matching inks. Here is one of them. It's a Kaweco Perkeo, filled with Krishna Myrtle.

Poor Yama Guri tried many pens until it found its home: Lamy Studio in Imperial Blue. Really smooth, the combination just screams classic.

I very rarely match pens and ink. I hate putting red ink in my red pen body. I dont ever usually have pink ink to go in the pink pen body. And until recently all the rest were clear or grey.

Yeah it kinda matches. And I like the combo. Im seriously thinking about using the same ink when it runs out! Heresy!

I'm with you. I generally hate "matchy-matchy". But there are some "same color" combos that work well: for some reason the M400 Brown Tortoise has always been filled with brown inks (even though I keep swearing that some day I'll stick Noodler's Navajo Turquoise in the pen instead).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
