Parker Premier

So, trip report time. Yesterday, I went to the Fountain Pen Hospital in NYC and purchased a Parker Premier. I wasn't initially drawn to the Parker brand because it had in my mind a cheap drugstore reputation, but I liked the way the Pemier felt and the way it wrote. It's a heavy pen because of a brass base, but it's pretty well balanced. Posting the cap changes the balance slightly. I like the weight, though I'm not sure everyone would. It has an 18kt gold nib and I got a medium. The nib is butter smooth on good paper and (bleep) paper alike.

Congratulations, I'm sure you will get a lot of enjoyment from this pen.

Thanks. I've been using it a fair amount since I bought it and really like how smooth it is and how it lays down the ink. I also like the half turn screw cap for easy on and off when writing. I found the pen more comfortable when not posted.

I didn't understand how it works... Can you explain it, please?

Half turn screw is just that you catch the cap with your hand, turn it just a little (like a bottle of water) and take off the cap.

How do you compare Premier to Duofold?

Sorry for the delayed reply; long business trip. I've never used a Duofold, so I can't make a comparison. The half-turn cap is great for putting the cap on and off in meetings.
